Impending terrorist attacks?

So I was planning on going up to Northern Virginia this weekend to hang out with some friends, but my dad advised me against it because he is certain there will be terrorist attacks this weekend. I really don't think there's a whole lot that can be done in DC that would affect me so far outside the city, but he still asked me to reconsider going.

Anyway, that got me thinking. Does anybody expect to see an immediate terrorist response within our borders? What do you think they'd hit? Major cities? Washington?

I think there's certainly a good possibility of terrorist attacks in the very near future, though I highly doubt we'd be looking at anything on the scale of September 11th. By attacking Iraq like this we're practically opening our doors and BEGGING them to come after us.

Terrorists were going to hit us in a few years because we have already grown complacent. This may or may not excelerate the process. Depends on what their long term goals are.

I say it depends on the scope. If we just do a little repeat of Desert Storm, then essentially I agree with El Blanco. On the other hand, if we're tearing Iraq a new blowhole and basically rip their country to shreds, you're going to have a LOT of pissed off people, desperate people, who view they have nothing else to lose, who feel that America is the source of all this evil (as if we weren't already apparently) so in that scenario I'm not as optimistic. However, I seriously doubt that something major would happen as soon as this weekend unless they start jumping the gun, figuring it's time because the war has started, etc.

It's really a moot point at this time. Thanks to Emperor Bush, the terrorists have already won.

All I know is people were already on edge in this state as it is. The serial killer is making the local news again ::sighs::

Nothing says "Happiness" like living in a world with a soon-to-be major war and a town with a serial killer. I KNEW I should've moved to Texas.
