What would it take to be nobody?

So I'm sitting here alone with my thoughts (BONG HITS) and I wonder, what would it take to loose your citizenship in any one particular country, but not gain citizenship in another at the same time? Is this buerocraticaly possible? What would the tax benifiets be?
Like the movie "The terminal" but in real life and pureluy intentional?

It's largely about swearing an oath of allegience to another nation, and/or committing treason.
Not entirely sure it's a good thing to do, anyway.

As I understand it, if you are on foreign soil, you can walk into a US embassy and swear away your citizen ship to the US.
