looking for a digital camera setting

trying to figure out the digital camera setting i need to have this effect. this is a christmas tree, the only lights on in the room were the tree lights, no flash, and (obviously) the only thing shown is the lights.

this picture was taken last year on a canon powershot a530 digital camera and i can't figure out how to get it to work again. basically, i just want the camera to pick up the lights and nothing else!

I would ask this in Art shit as well. I know what you're talking about, but i'm not sure how to so it on OTHER cameras. I have a canon rebel xt.

The way I would try to recreate it would be to put it on manual with the aperature around 5.6 and keep the time to 1/60 of a second. That makes darker pictures that in a dark room like you're describing, should work kinda like you want.
