The Leader's Custom toys

I... customize action figures. Yeah, the babes love me. Here's some of my little kit-bashed models and toys. It isn't the greatest stuff but I like it. :3

The Wasteland Patrol:

The figures are 1/35th scale, made of various kits and bits.

Blue Hover-Tank:

This one is 1/72nd scale, made with vehicle parts and figures from a D-Day model set.

This pic is just to show the size of these pieces next to a Canadian quarter:

This guy is some futuristic soldier composed of a 21st century toys body along with parts from G.I. Joe's, Star Wars figures and random parts.

Star Wars Guys!!!

A Sexy Sullustan:

Imperial Commando:

Damaged IG droid:

Random Spaceman:

Do you guys see anything that you think could use some improvement? Tell me what y'all think!

bigtimecow Mar 31st, 2008 07:48 PM

these are awesome, especially the spaceman. are some of them built off of g.i. joes?

Naw, the base figures are all Star Wars except for the future soldier.

Kitsa Apr 2nd, 2008 02:15 PM

Cool.

As an aside, are you the same "The Leader" as on flickr?

The Leader Apr 2nd, 2008 10:09 PM

Why yes, yes I am. I haven't uploaded very many photos there yet though.

The Leader Jul 24th, 2009 04:46 PM

Hugh Hefner had he lived in the Star Wars universe:

I've also made three Watchmen figures from 25th anniversary G.I. Joe parts.

The Comedian:

Veidt:

Rorschach:

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 11:43 AM

<3 detail work

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 03:31 PM

Why thank you. :)

10,000 Volt Ghost Jul 25th, 2009 03:37 PM

The Comedian looks really good. I love the Hugh Heffner one, his eyes look kind of bug-eyed or surprised. I thought you were a girl for some reason. Either way great job.

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 04:26 PM

Hold on, we don't have to jump the gun. Just give me a minute to put a wig on and stuff my shirt.

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 04:51 PM

I'd pay to see that.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jul 25th, 2009 04:55 PM

I'd take it for free :love

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 04:59 PM

:yum

elx Jul 25th, 2009 05:14 PM

awesome

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 06:11 PM

Oh golly, you're all too kind.

Tadao Jul 25th, 2009 06:31 PM

If only you made a I-Mock action figures.

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 06:39 PM

I was thinking about doing a 12 inch Evil Spiderman from 3 Dev Adam but I don't know how to sew. :(

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 07:47 PM

I never let that stop me. Wuss.

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 07:56 PM

I thought all you did was make food. >:

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 08:03 PM

pfft.

If I did only one thing I'd be burned out bigtime.

Just hand-stitch stuff. It's all action-figure sized anyway, right?

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 08:07 PM

Can you buy me the material? Puh-weese?

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 08:09 PM

You can get stuff in the remnant bin anywhere they sell fabric. That's where I get all my stuff, cheap. Even Wal-Mart has remnants.

The Leader Jul 25th, 2009 08:12 PM

Psssh, remnant fabric. Naw, I need the perfect shades of green and red spandex for this.

Kitsa Jul 25th, 2009 08:17 PM

And I say if you look hard enough you'll find 'em for cheap.

The Leader Jul 26th, 2009 03:18 PM

But will they be of the finest blend, made for the emperor?

Kitsa Jul 26th, 2009 05:38 PM

only you can decide this.

Rez Jul 27th, 2009 12:39 PM

thats a rad tank

The Leader Jul 27th, 2009 02:17 PM

Yeah, it's blue. :3

Kitsa Jul 27th, 2009 03:10 PM

What do you think of this person's custom work?

http://www.headlesshistoricals.com/DollSale.htm

If they're really getting $100 apiece for them...damn. I did shit like that to my dolls when I was little, but never tried to sell it.

The Leader Jul 27th, 2009 05:21 PM

I don't know why someone would pay a hundred for those unless those outfits she made for them are AMAZING. But I don't know a lot about 12 inch stuff. I don't really pay attention to how much money people can make off of this. They're just toys to me, none of that pretentious howdy do, if you catch my drift. :conspiracy

The Leader Jul 27th, 2009 05:22 PM

I do like the Joan of Arc one.

Kitsa Jul 27th, 2009 06:02 PM

I liked her more than the others because more effort seemed to be involved. Anyone can pop off a Barbie head and paint the stump red. :\

When I was much younger (junior high or thereabouts) I made a Sculpey statue of Lady Jane Grey. Someone bought it on Ebay and now it's in some big collection of Lady Jane Grey stuff somewhere. My mom made me stop doing sculptures, they were giving her nightmares.

Then all the Tudor hype came along (with series like "The Tudors" and mass-marketed novels/movies like "The Other Boleyn Girl") and ruined Tudor history for me. It was bad enough that the Helena Bonham Carter/Cary Elwes "Lady Jane" movie was mooned over by a subset rivaling "Twilight" fandom, but now it's just too damn mainstream.

If you notice, a huge chunk of those dolls are Tudor-era.

French history had been pretty safe and then that Kirsten Dunst movie came along. Now I hear they're going after Charlotte Corday too. Most of the French-made historicals try to be accurate, but hell, put Marie Antoinette in Converse All-Stars and have her dance to "I Want Candy", why the hell not. >:

Wiffles Aug 27th, 2009 08:18 PM

This may sound very geeky, but I can identify you used a Sherman, a DUKW landing craft, and some Truck parts for your 1/72 model. And probably even an aircraft cockpit. I love the whole mix-mash of it ^.^

I also love the Wasteland Patrol, probably made of Standard Wehrmacht units with guns form another kit. I love the menacing gas masks!

The rest, superb work.

good job sir ^.^

The Leader Aug 27th, 2009 10:36 PM

You are right on the blue tank! The Wasteland Patrol legs and helmets were indeed from Wehrmacht, but the arms, torsos and heavily modded heads were from some SWAT/GSG 9 figures and the guns are cut down laser rifles from GI Joe ARAH. :)

Zhukov Sep 6th, 2009 12:05 PM

Hey, those are great mate. I really like them. I think that instead of painting two colours right next to each other (The Comedian's shirt/skin for example) you should paing a dividing colour between the two. Black shirt, maybe a grey dividing line, then the flesh colour.

The Leader Sep 6th, 2009 12:36 PM

Or a darker black, maybe. Or just a different black. IDEAS! :D

stevetothepast Sep 8th, 2009 01:50 PM

they look good dude, really nice. especially like the rorschach.

The Leader Sep 8th, 2009 05:56 PM

Thank you, honey. ;/

The Leader Jun 4th, 2010 09:25 PM

:hypno excellent.

Tadao Jun 6th, 2010 12:06 PM

Are those based on anything or is it all your imagination?

The Leader Jun 6th, 2010 12:41 PM

It's all from my imagination. Except for the last one. :o

Zhukov Jun 25th, 2010 11:52 AM

Cool and tantalising.

The Leader Jun 25th, 2010 01:35 PM

Zhukov, you charmer you.

Zhukov Jun 28th, 2010 10:05 AM

Yes, ok, posting them again just to get attention I see, :rolleyes but good nonetheless.

The Leader Jun 28th, 2010 12:58 PM

I COVERED THAT IN THE OTHER THREAD IT IS ROGER'S FAULT BLAME HIM FOR TURNING ME INTO A WHORE

The Leader Jun 28th, 2010 12:59 PM

:tear

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 28th, 2010 01:30 PM

YOU GOT THAT FROM YOUR MOTHER.

The Leader Jun 28th, 2010 02:01 PM

>:

Mockery Jun 28th, 2010 02:49 PM

WHY ARE YOU POSTING THESE FIGURES EVERYWHERE?

YOU'RE SUCH A WHORE. >:

The Leader Jun 28th, 2010 02:54 PM

YOU MADE ME THIS WAY

Zhukov Jun 28th, 2010 10:30 PM

We've been over this The Leader. "Roger" isn't real, he is just the voice you hear in your head when you get scared. Roger is not a real person so you should stop listening to him.

You have to take responsibility for being a whore yourself.

The Leader Jun 29th, 2010 10:53 AM

It's the fault of a society which places achievement and recognition above talent and humanism, Zhukov, you fink.

Zhukov Jun 29th, 2010 11:55 AM

Such a tortured mind :(

Talented in an artistic way, but yet unable to function normally in modern society. A wasted life, one could say.

Wiffles Oct 16th, 2010 08:54 AM

As they say, a life well wasted is a life well spent ^.^

Also you could prolly make some moneys from those figs $_$

The Leader Jan 23rd, 2011 07:18 PM

Tadao Jan 23rd, 2011 08:03 PM

I admire your art the most. Not that everyone else sucks, just that your heart really shines though.

Zhukov Jan 24th, 2011 09:46 AM

That's damn cool.

The Leader Jan 24th, 2011 01:45 PM

You two are so sweet. :)

Pentegarn Jan 24th, 2011 10:32 PM

I like the little details you put into it (like the label partially missing where the dents [which I assume must be battle damage] are)

Zhukov Jan 25th, 2011 02:56 AM

Is that a Turkish space marine?

The Leader Jan 25th, 2011 12:20 PM

Why wouldn't it be a Turkish space marine? :eek

10,000 Volt Ghost Jan 28th, 2011 01:21 PM

Hell yeah new Leader guys are out.

The Leader Feb 12th, 2011 11:14 PM

Zhukov Feb 13th, 2011 04:08 AM

That's cool. Did you paint it?

The Leader Feb 13th, 2011 04:39 PM

Yes, it's a model kit. ;/

captain516 Feb 14th, 2011 10:26 PM

You should make a Turkish Batman, that'd be awesome.
Edit: Holy shit, that's an actual thing! :O

Rog, get your ass on reviewing this bad boy.

Kitsa Feb 16th, 2011 06:58 PM

Holy shit, exposed boobs in a Turkish movie?

Clearly that model is not finished.

The Leader Apr 23rd, 2012 10:50 PM

I made a short film without using much money. ;>

Fathom Zero Apr 24th, 2012 01:45 AM

Pentegarn Apr 24th, 2012 10:37 AM

The Leader Apr 24th, 2012 08:35 PM

Indeed it was, good sir.

The Leader Oct 18th, 2023 12:40 AM

I painted some spider maquettes for lighting reference on the Mandalorian a few years ago.
