Will the Dreamcast ever die?

http://dreamcast.dcemu.co.uk/akihaba...out-55430.html Commercial games still being released in Japan, rise in Dreamcast sales at retro shops. I love the Dreamcast, though I think it's very bizarre that games are still being made for it. Well, whenever there is a demand. I guess it's like that Genesis game that was released not long ago. This is neeto, though not very uncommon with the Dreamcast. |
Dreamcast was alright, but as far as cult favorite systems go, it can't beat the saturn.
Indeed, I'm thinking of buying one rather soon. I've added it to the massive amount of "things I would totally buy if I had some scrilla".
I just need to get some keyboards and "Typing of the Dead". Then I'll gladly hook my Dreamcast up again.
It died for me after playing Sonic Adventure 2, hoo boy what an awful game. Who's the brain trust who thought the next generation of Sonic games needed singing?
I've heard that Sonic Adventure 2 was still a great game, although it had some plunders in it.
Anyway, I wonder how long it takes from Sonic Team to realize that they can't go on like this. They should at least make remakes from the Genesis Sonic games. If they lack material, they could just stuff all the remakes into the same game under the same plot or some other shit like that. :/ |
I only bought a Dreamcast for Sonic Adventure and Shenmue 1 and 2. Turned out I didn't like any of 'em.
The best were Power Stone, Skies of Arcadia, Evolution, and House of the Dead II.
I still play my Dreamcast from time to time. My system is louder than hell now though. I imagine it'll be dead eventually.
I want one just to play power stone again :(
I got the collection on my PSP (:lewdgesture), so I'm okay not having it on the Dreamcast.
Skies of Arcadia is on Gamecube too, right? Though I hear they messed with the soundtrack.
It is, indeed, on the Gamecube.
Has anyone ever got like emulators and roms working on the Dreamcast :( Jixby and I tried for hours but neither of us could get it working.

I haven't tried using homebrew on the DC, but it looks as if you need a bootdisk and another disc with programs and shit on it. I've also heard one can send files to the DC via LAN through the adaptor in the back. I think someone made an ethernet connector for it, too. http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=131 |
The dreamcast runs even just NES emulators like shit. If you want to emulate on your TV, your best bet is to either use video hookups from your PC or mod an xbox.
Oh man, I wish I knew that before I wasted like 15 CD-Rs trying to do it a year ago :(
homebrew dreamcast stuff was pretty much abandoned when xbox came out. there was a good nes emulator that i still use an enjoy to this day, an i got the atari emulator too to play some nice vanguard an demon attack. but any other kind of emulator was dropped before they became refined enough to play games properly.
i dunno guys i have a burnt copy of ikaruga and it works just fine on my dreamcast
Don't let the name fool you. Caution:Seaman was the best game ever.
The Emulators on Dreamcast aren't that great. One MegaDrive one has some awful sound and the other keeps getting stuck and skipping backwards and things.
http://www.hooplanet.co.uk/article.p..._from=&ucat=9& Bit of Dreamcast lovin' for you there. |
The dreamcast did die and its dead and its never coming back.
