I need a word.
I'm at work and I don't have my dictionary, and I need to know what something is called in English. What I'm thinking about is a kind of crab-trap. You put bait in it and throw it into the ocean, and then the next day you pull it back up and there will be crabby goodness. Over here they're called teine or ruse.
Anybody? |
"crab trap"

'The Crabulator'

They're just called "crab pots" in English, I think :/

"Lobster pot"

I practically grew up on a sailboat and we went crabbing all the time. They're simply called "crab traps". I even remember the signs on them at the local store. There's some really nice ones too that are coated in plastic so they don't rust on you.
Crabbing was always so much fun. :tear :memories |
'Professor Crabtacular's crustacean entrapment engine'

Shit, I never would have gotten into video games if they called it crab traps that when I was a kid. :(
|
Its just called a crab-trap.
Mmm...crabs...:yum |
I'm allergic to crab :(
|
What's another name for "man traps" ... besides women, I mean. ;) :fuelonfire
|
Sometimes bastards will steal the crabs out of your traps though. That pisses me off.
|
Did Kramer do it? :lol

Dole make me ha ha-ing with the laughter.
We used to troll for Crabs. You tie a piece of leftover chicken to a rope, drop it over the side, drive real slow for a while and then haul up the crabs. |
Yep, I did that too Max. It was so much fun. I would eat some fried chicken for dinner, and then tie what was left to a rope. Soon enough, there would be some creature eating your food. Normally it was a crab, but I've also caught eels and water snakes that way. :eek
It's funny thinking about doing that though, cuz I remember so many kids would just yank up the chicken bone and wonder why there weren't any crabs to be caught. You had to pull it out of the water extremely slowly, otherwise the crabs would just drop off. :master-of-the-crabs :domo |
I always wanted to troll for crabs with some guy I'd killed.
i know thats bad |
hahaha, that makes me think of the scene in the Abyss where the crab comes out of that dead guy's mouth.

I feel left out, I was never a sailor-- but mostly I feel straight.

ALL HANDS ON DECK!

Well, back in my day, when I was just a youngin', they called the crab-traps quite a different name. I believe it was "Nantucket Nancy" who invented it actually, and had first called it Them Red Yellar Claw Killer Catcher. No wait... my mistake, they were Nantucket Nancy's Traperoons. Gah, my memory is so foggy. It's hard remembering things from about 7 decades ago when you're 406 years old, but now that I think about it, I recall the name being Worcester Cardboard. No. Blegh, forget it.
Kramer did it![/quote] |
