Major League Baseball 2008

Thought I would start a 2008 baseball thread since we are now far past week one of the baseball season.

So... How bout that Roidger Clemens? Now he's a liar, a cheater, a drug addict, AND a pedophile.... "allegedly"

WhiteRat May 2nd, 2008 09:27 PM

I found it hilarious that Brain McNamee's lawyer was babbling about the Clemens-McCready issue on ESPN. Does McNamee even have anything to do with this scandal?

Also, the AL Central is a logjam. Cheer for a Twin today!

How shitty is the AL Central? Look at it like this; Detroit is under .500, yet they are only a game out of first.

PS: I can't cheer for that 11-1 ass whipping they just handed the Tigers. :(

El Blanco May 3rd, 2008 09:37 AM

Maybe McNamee was slipping him Viagra in his steroids.

The Tigers started the year 0-7 - now they're a game out of first. Quicher bellyachin'! :lol

On the other side of the aisle, the Phils had their best April in 4 years, actually finishing with a winning record. Pat Burrell (??!!) is giving Chase Utley a run for his money as the team's MVP. And Rollins should be back in the lineup just in time for the series in Arizona next Thursday. If this keeps up, baseball could be my new favorite sport! :)

The Twins are now the only team in the AL Central above .500, thanks to a nice sweep of the Tigers.

Pentegarn May 5th, 2008 05:46 PM

I always said the Twins were nothing but a bunch of garbage men :P

WhiteRat May 5th, 2008 07:25 PM

Jacque Jones of the Tigers was designated for assignment today. It seems like yesterday when Jones, Torii Hunter, and Shannon Stewart hawkishly patrolled the outfield.

God bless you JJ!

Pentegarn May 5th, 2008 11:21 PM

I was trying not to watch the Tigers game today for two reasons. 1) Boston was beating them down and 2) I didn't want my GF catching me not paying attention to her during dinner :P

Twins take 3 out of 4 against the Red Sox to maintain their AL Central lead. Not too shabby I say.

Pentegarn May 14th, 2008 06:51 AM

I am surprised nobody has said anything about yesterday's unassisted triple play yet.

Those don't happen too often.

El Blanco May 14th, 2008 08:33 AM

And I just dropped that fucker from my fantasy team.

sspadowsky May 14th, 2008 08:12 PM

I'd like to drop the entire Cardinals bullpen from the real team.

Pentegarn May 15th, 2008 05:55 PM

Even if you hate Man Ram, you gotta admire this act.

Watch this quickly, because the powers that be in baseball WILL have it taken down soon (Lord knows we wouldn't want baseball getting free publicity would we?).

That's one of those plays that everyone will say they actually witnessed at Fenway - to the tune of 10 times the capacity of the ballpark. Plus there will be at least 100 or so individuals who will claim to be the guy he high-fived.

However, it was a great play, worthy of all the attention.

For the Sox fans it will likely be a where were you when that happened moment. But trust a Boston fan to claim something that happened in Baltimore really happened in Boston :lol

oops, I actually thought you saying Boston fans would claim it was in Fenway was a jab at the arrogance of Boston fans.

I saw behind the curtain and it was not the Great and Powerful Oz :(

Colonel Flagg May 17th, 2008 09:24 AM

Nope, I'm not that smrt. :lol

Colonel Flagg May 18th, 2008 01:17 PM

I'm frustrated with the Phils lack of consistency. 44 games in, and they've only swept one series - a 2-game set at Colorado. It seems that of the smattering of teams I looked at, they've each swept at least one three-game stand.

It's hard to string a winning streak together if you can't even win three straight. Am I asking too much here???

Of course, maybe I could be overstating things - at least they haven't been swept yet.

Geggy May 20th, 2008 06:21 AM

Jon Lester of the red sox pitched a no hitter against the royals last night. Allowed two walks and made one error. Normally I wouldnt consider it a no hitter when a team makes an error but the error was a pickoff attempt by Lester himself when he threw the ball over the head of 1st baseman, youkilis, so thats not a big deal.

Not bad huh? Second year in a row that a sox pitcher threw a no hitter.

Colonel Flagg May 23rd, 2008 05:18 PM

Look out, NL Pitchers. Ryan Howard is now 6 for his last 10 AB's - here he comes out of his slump. :rock

Of course he's still hitting right around the Mendoza line, so why don't we wait and see, eh? :/

Canseco is celebrity boxing now, make a cool 5 grand if you fight Canseco

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/c...,5285423.story

What, Surreal Life didn't want you? Did Dancing With the Stars think you had no dancing skills? Maybe you should have given Celebrity Fit Club a call. I don't want to see this unless it is an epic circus, like if he were to fight Danny Bonaduce or something.
