UAA bus driver...

The sound keeps going out on my computer, and I've found the Microsoft UAA bus driver is the culprit. Anyone got any clues to keep this thing from crapping out on me? I've fixed it twice (once by updating the driver and then later rolling it back), but now my old tricks won't work anymore.

I've visited other forums and downloaded drivers, hotfixes, patches and all sorts of other things, and nothing seems to help. I'm not a 'computer guy' either, so this is all very frustrating.

What does UAA stand for? Are you using onboard sound or a sound card?

If it's onboard, you might want to try a generic AC'97 audio codec.

I think the UAA stands for "Universal Audio Architecture". I'm pretty sure it's an onboard sound (unimodem half duplex sound device, according to my device manager). How would I find one of these generic AC97 codecs?

All right, I found and downloaded the Realtek AC97 codec, and it did nothing.

I know I am a bit late but I had exactly the same problem. The answer is two step. Get the Uaa driver, then install the audio drivers.

Since you have the audio driver, The UAA can be found here http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows...ver-patch.html
