I do love Bourbon, Scotch is a terrific mistress, and Gin. Well, Gin is Gin, it has it's own special place. A good Bombay Sapphire G&T on a hot summer day is very, very hard to compete with.

I am really sad that I can't drink anything alcoholic anymore. I am on medication that if I do it doubles it's effects. But... it doesn't mean I can say what I did like.

what kind of medicine are you taking? All drugs say that on them as a warning, but what they usually mean by doubling its effects is that it will double the FUN effects.

I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have to take Metformin. Being on Metformin puts me already at risk for Lactic Acidosis ((including kidney or liver problems)) but drinking large amounts of alcohol with Metformin also increases your risk for lactic acidosis. While small amounts of alcohol should not be a problem for most people taking Metformin avoiding alcohol entirely might be a good idea.

I could chance it, but honestly, I would prefer not to. I am sort of a better safe than sorry type. I know, no fun. lol But, I landed once in the hospital for medication issues.

I'm probably going to swing by the package store and pick up a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon, I'm a sucker for booze with neat bottles.

I finished off a bottle of Wild Turkey "Rare Breed" tonight. Took awhile, but it was worth the wait.

I'm a beer guy. And I'm not talking about Budweiser or any other similar pisswater lager. Weihenstephaner Korbinian or Weltenburger Asam Bock in a pint and I am a happy man. Basic cheap lager is OK, when I really need to get drunk and the taste is not a priority. They are also good after sauna.

Also, I occasionally enjoy a White Russian, Dark Rum or Red Wine. I don't know anything about wines, so I just usually buy the cheapest Italian, Spanish or Chilean brand I can find.

Actually, I have good news. Whiskey snobs are what MAKE whiskey bars suck, and I am not one of them!

I remember going on a bar crawl with a few of my friends and their sorority counterparts in downtown fullerton. In order to get to one of the places, we cut through a whiskey bar to get in through the back of this dingy place. We entered through a HUGELY busy bar, and exited into this thundering little room converted into a dance floor. The whiskey bar had five silent sullen guys in it, wearing cheap suits. I've always hoped that they paid a yearly membership fee

When it comes to hard alcohol, I loves me some Crown Royal Black. That with some cherry Coke Zero is my go-to drink. I'm also fond of coke with amaretto (I dig Gozio) and cherry flavored vodka. It's like the best cherry coke ever. Another drink I like a lot is whisky, orange vodka, sour mix, and a splash of blue curacao just so it turns green. I dunno if that drink has a name or not, but whatevs, it's tasty.

As for beer, Chimay Grande Reserve is the bee's knees. I'm also a big fan of porters, stouts and imperial stouts. Pretty much the darker the beer, the better for me. Although, I do enjoy lighter (in color) beers like Allagash White and Ommegang Rare Vos.

Don't mix crown royal except with ice.

I've been drinking a lot of straight rum and ice lately. The big difference I've noticed between that and beer is that I'm super hungry the next morning.

Right now I'm drinking a fine bottle of white wine I picked up from a winery in upstate NY. It is aptly called, "Woman Pleaser".

I thought this was so funny that I bought a poster of the label. Then I realized that if I hung up something like that I would portray myself as some sort of agressive lesbian, so I decided maybe I didn't need to hang it up after all.

How is it? I've found their stuff to be kind of hit or miss.

Amazing. Its roasted dark so it has a good coffee taste to it.

About a week ago, I bought the Great Lakes sampler and it was amazing. It was a shame though that it didn't include Nosferatu, but other than that, it was amazing.

Nosferatu is pretty damn good too. I'm a huge fan of great lakes brewery and Honkers out of Chicago.

Honkers... Haven't heard of it. I'll have to take a look into that, see if I can find some around here.

Finally bought a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon. It was okay, wasn't anything special, but at least it came in a cool frontier style bottle! Yeah, it actually does. The first drink I took was surprisingly full of flavor but not too much to ruin the feeling that you were drinking bourbon. It's probably not for everyone but I really liked it.
