GOING BACK TO THE FUTURE TO UPDATE THE COMIC TONE THREAD

that's resized tho, but it seems I get no moire patterns when I print the 600 dpi versions. This means I can make all the comic tone I want fast in photoshop even for work that is to be professionally printed, not just stupid web comics. Which is awesome for a number of reasons: one) actual comic tone is REALLY expensive. b) cutting it and rubbing it off etc is REALLY tiresome and π) you can experiment as much as you like in photoshop without wasting tone.

Tell me how. I've been wanting to do this for some time, but never figured it out.

Why couldn't they just call it 'rasterize filter'? >:

then open up the files, select the gridded square, and EDIT > CREATE PATTERN or whatever it is called.

What you say could also work, the rasterization filter, and I'm sure someone's coded something like that in, but it's not bound to work in print format, because of the ugly moire effect resized patterns that are usually created.

Take note to only use these tones in 600 dpi final scans, which will not be resized later, that's the whole point.

I was mainly thinking to use it as a stylistic effect for web stuff, so that won't be a problem. I'll keep it in mind in case I'll need to get something printed, though. Anyway, thanks.

This sounds like an incredibly stupid question but whats the difference between that and using the half tone filter? :(

hehe and for a second time:

oooooh :O

Machines :O

that looks way nice, and the manga influence in the backgrounds is kinda surprising. Reminds me of Battle Angel Alita, especially the door and the stuff in the background of the first panel. Suh-weet.

GUNNM is one of the few mangas that I really love. Along with Appleseed, probably the whole of my manga influence. I tried to keep a really european line in the characters, while trying all the comic tone tricks of the manga industry. Nobody else is doing this as far as I know.

Yeah, i saw that the character stood out quite a bit but i wasn't sure why. I like the look of it, and it's a good idea, the character designs can sometimes ruin an otherwise great manga. Manga and anime characters in general are quite ugly anyway. I never did get around to reading Appleseed either, maybe i need to get cracking on that. Is that a story you're working with, or just a page you're doing for practice?

four pager. I'm inking page 2. Will be published in this weekly comic anthology probably.
