"Once Upon a Time in Mexico" question...

The soundtrack for this movie is a damned good one and I intend to get it soon, but I heard that the song that they play during the intro isn't on it. This is a damned shame to me because it's easily some of the best music in the film.

Anyway, I'm trying to find out the name of this song. If you don't know what song I'm speaking of, it's the one that starts playing at the beginning when the old man gives Banderas the acoustic guitar and then he starts walking through the streets while playing it. Any help finding what this song is called would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The name of the song is EL Malaguena by Brian Setzer and it is on the soundtrack.

It's a very traditional spanish song that got a rockibilly remake for the movie.

You can verify if this is the song you are referrnig to on AMAZON.COM in the popular musc section for the soundtrack and hear a sample of it.

Uh no, that's a fast-paced Brian Setzer track... it's not the slow classical guitar tune that plays while Antonio is walking through the streets right after the old man gives him the homemade guitar.

The one you're talking about was good, but that's not it.

edit: YES! The very last song on that album you linked to is the song I'm talking about.

You know, I have yet to see that movie.

Me either, I haven't even saw desperado yet, whenever I'm gonna watch it, I end up falling asleep.

I'd probably say "Desperado" is my favorite of the three. "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" was a fun movie to watch and it had a great cast, but it fell short in too many areas. However, watching the bonus footage on the DVD about the making of the movie was pretty fascinating to me. I really enjoyed that stuff.

Just bought Robert Rodriguez' book "Rebel Without a Crew" too.

I liked the part where he gave the recipe for making that slow roasted pork. I want to make it but I don't know where to buy banana leaves :(
