Mars Volta lyrics

Can anyone give a band with a stranger choice in lyrics. For example, this is one of my favorite songs of theirs:

EDIT: Got a better example than the one below right here.

Cut That City

neonecropopulace has no reflection
neocaeczaristic phallic ruins
just east of the river denial the techs are breathing
welcome to this neotokyo
gridlocks will warn the chromlech alarms
bouquet of cuticles
landscape tantrums
tramontane torching the tramontane
i've heard the mumbling of citadels shifting on this richter scale
the alleys will flow marble intercourse
roil the pantheon... of subterfuge
tramontane torching the tramontane
this marabout isn't untouchable
indentured by servitude
neoinfidels - let's plug them in
neopolygraphic, trip chords
centrocircuiphobia the fallacy
welcome to neotokyo
tore the wings off seraphin, fed them to the anglophiles
in this stag caberat the bark of buildings surged, through the whipping volt abode
go to the lexicon you sluggard, if you will.

Take the Veil (Cerpin Taxt)

You must have been phlegmatic in stature
The gates of thanos are a spread eagle wide
You let the shutters make sackcloth and ashes
Out of a blind mans picaresque heart
You take the veil
You'll take the dive
You take the veil
It's not over till the tremulant sings
These ides of march
Are they so make believe
How tempts the revenant
Slice up and not across
You take the veil
You'll take the dive
You take the veil
A mass of gallon sloth
As flys have walls for feet
A rapturous verbatim-someone said but who is to know
And when you find the fringe
The one last hit that spent you
You'll find the ossuary spilling by the day
The iconoclastic had it coming for years
They know the prisons that you have yet to fear
Where thumbs hide inside of sleepingbag mouths
Adlib your memoires by casting a drought
You take the veil
You'll take the dive
You take the veil
A mass of gallon sloth
As flys have walls for feet
A rapturous verbatim-someone said but who is to know
And when you find the fringe
The one last hit that spent you
You'll find the ossuary spilling by the day
Knife me in -hobbeling
Talking in it's sleep again
Knife me in-hobbeling
Talking in it's sleep again
The one last hit that spent you
And you will find
The greatest fucking lie
Of aneurysm vespers
The ones that pile
Up the greatest fucking lies
Knife me in hobbling
Talking in it's sleep again
Knife me in hobbling
Talking in It's sleep again
Virulent hives- of bedpost piles
Virulent hives
Who brought me here
Forsaken,depraved and wrought with fear
Who turned it off
The last thing I remember now
Who brought me here
Forsaken,depraved and wrought with fear
Who turned it off
The last thing I remember now

Fear of God has some pretty out there lyrics as well-

Powerlines... steel webs confine, violating the brownish sky.
Hard grey smothers, earth, like cancer. Cracks revealing, ground below
Broken and bleeding
every seed, every stone.
I've heard the promise, I feel hunger, I realize. As time creeps over me
and days are torn away.
There are no answers only bitter lies, the only voice I'm believing
is the
beckoning blade.
I know the feeling the loss of control
voice of reason slips away
eyes staring back at me
so dark so cold
reflecting all the remains.
I know the enslaver.
I taste its pison... feel its sting deep inside.
It has no answer, only bitter lies but its voice I'm hearing,
Keeps calling my name.
Who can tell the torture of the soul?
Is it wrong... tell me is it wrong... to close your eyes... to sleep
forever?
I know the feeling the loss of control
voice of reason slips away
eyes staring back at me
so dark so cold
reflecting all the remains.

And another band good for kinda wacky lyrics is White Willow, though I can't find theirs now.

Ah, yes. But do they have sites that are dedicated to deciphering hidden meaning (and just meanings of odd words) in their songs.

My GOD those mars volta lyrics are the most pretentious pile of crap I have ever read.....ewwwwww....it reads like bad teenage poetry. Which is essentially what it is.

Ronnie Raygun Apr 28th, 2004 04:12 PM

Dole prefers good ole Noel.

Spastic Colon Apr 28th, 2004 09:48 PM

You know what Dole, blow me. I think Mars Volta is possibly the greatest thing since. . .well, since. . . I-MOCKERY!!!

Dole Apr 29th, 2004 04:05 AM

Those lyrics are meaningless tosh. And no, I will not fellate you, you strange little man.

ProfessorCool Apr 29th, 2004 06:26 PM

If you study the lyrics really closely you soon learn the lyrics are cooking recipes for tuna noodle casserole, steak stir fry, and wjat i think is...

taste its pison... feel its sting deep inside

ah yes, liver and onions.

actually the lyrics from The Mars Volta are really meaningful. If you ever take the time to learn about the purpose and significance of them you will learn that it all circles around death...their latest album is entirely about a friend they lost through some horrible circumstances. I wouldn't call anything they do childish. They are problably the most amazing and groundbreaking rock band out there right now...even though they are all insane.

Even better than the unfathomable lyrics...the performance of them

Spastic Colon Apr 29th, 2004 11:32 PM

I really wish they had some music videos though.

BTW: one of thier CDs has only three songs on it, WTF!

executioneer Apr 30th, 2004 01:18 AM

THAT IS SURPRISING :eek WHAT KIND OF FREAKS WOULD ONYL PUT THREE SONGS ON A ALBUM :x

More like a tribute to a dead friend.

Dixie Apr 30th, 2004 12:42 PM

they do have a music video. it's really fucking weird though. i like them alot, though when i saw them live they were amazing musically but boring. a 30 minute spaced out jam is cool, but not when it goes on and on. yeah they are pretentious but still they're good.
