Katrina Refugees Screwed Again

Guess who's too poor to evacuate Houston and is getting left in the path of the storm?

Suprise! Katrina victims.

Houston hotel hosts Katrina evacuees

CNN's John Zarrella in Houston, Texas
Posted: 9:36 a.m. ET

We stayed overnight in Houston at a Marriott Courtyard. Turns out the hotel is hosting many Katrina evacuees from New Orleans. The general manager is keeping his hotel open with only 13 volunteer employees. He said there was no way he would shut down because the Katrina evacuees had no place to go. Those evacuees occupy 53 of his rooms and he expects they will be here until the end of the year.

Their have been emergency evacuations in Houston of Hospitals and Nursing homes. How is it possible Katrina refugees who obviously have no money and nowhere to go, otherwise they wouldn't still be in Houston, are getting left behind?

I have a hard time buying this. The press (as you've proven) would feast on this.

From what I've heard, Galveston was able to dig up enough buses to get their people out (one full of seniors blew up on the highway, but I digress). I can't believe the planet Houston doesn't have enough infrastructure and buses to get out.

Plus, it's fucking Texas-- everybody else has a damn car or truck, don't they!!?

It's Texas.....they're waiting for instructions from Jesus...

They can't just take a category five hurricane as God's subtle way of saying "get the fuck out of my way"?

Something has occured to me. I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me.

They keep evacuationg these people North, right? Isn't North Texas/Oklahoma tornado country?

That kind of makes this whole evacuation idea a frying pan/fire situation.

I don't think they have much in the way of tornadoes to worry about in September. Besides, would Bush creare tornadoes to kill off the people of Texas?? I understand him creating hurricanes to kill off poor, black folk in Louisiana, but Texans???

"That kind of makes this whole evacuation idea a frying pan/fire situation."

That would be hilarious if they were just hounded by natural disasters forever.

Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Killer Bees, Lighting, then Mexico.

They took 'em to the next major city over. The idea is to keep them as close to home as possible. Plopping them down in Utah would keep them out of hurricane harms way, but it would also make it near impossible for them to put their lives back together.

They're not really trying very hard to keep them close to home.
There are some here on Cape Cod.
