Goldeneye 007 Wii

JESUS FUCK CHRIST YES

Zomboid Jun 15th, 2010 06:43 PM

Could be pretty cool, but there are a couple of things that I don't get.

Calling it Goldeneye seems kinda stupid. I get that they want that name recognition, but the original was based on the movie, and this doesn't look like it is.

The controls. I can't see them not making it somehow motion-controlled, but if that's the case, what separates it from other shooters on the wii?

k0k0 Jun 15th, 2010 06:55 PM

It's not Goldeneye...no pierce brosnan, 8 returning characters, no rare making it. They can try and imitate goldeneye, but without the same people who made the original and timesplitters, it's going to fall flat. I want a new timesplitters...that's all I wanted announced from e3...I know one was already being made before free radical shut down...and I wanted to see the crytek people, who bought timesplitters, to show it off. Oh well, we'll see how this Goldeneye (in name only) does.

Phoenix Gamma Jun 15th, 2010 07:28 PM

Yea, this isn't the same game. I can guarantee it'll be as uninspired as EA's attempt with Goldeneye Rogue Agent.

Rogue agent was real real bad.

I read that the concept is that they got the guy who wrote the original Goldeneye script and then reinterpreted the script based on the new bond.

The N64 goldeneye didn't really follow the movie, either. I know because I recently watched the movie after playing tons of the n64 and was horribly disappointed.

As for the controls, if it works like Red Steel, I'm good. We had a lot of 4-player fun with Red Steel and I'm sure this will be no different. They also mentioned that you can play it with the classic controller.

I should mention that aside from this announcement, Sony pretty much won E3 and Microsoft was a horrid embarrassment.

k0k0 Jun 16th, 2010 01:01 PM

If they focused on new games coming out and not the kinect, microsoft might have done somewhat better...but they chose to give a big middle finger to their core audience and brought a little kid on the stage to fuck with a lion. I actually made a hack called Red Rocket where a kid fucks with a lion among a bunch of other animals...but it was in a much different context.

Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie. :( And I've got every one of them, too.

The games got a lot of the key scenes. Some of them weren't in the movie, though, like the caves.

Phoenix Gamma Jun 16th, 2010 02:09 PM

Yea, the part where Bond flings himself off a dam in level 1 for no reason and survived confused me until I saw the movie and realized "Oh, they just couldn't find a way to show that he's bungee jumping..."

I think for an early N64 game they did a pretty good job recreating some of the moments, even if they took some liberties with some of the levels. Still, I think the best Bond game is Everything or Nothing, which had some stellar third person gameplay, fantastic setpieces, cool chase scenes, plenty of ways to dispatch enemies, and made Bond more than just a hand holding a gun. The Co-Op was really cool too, and the only let down was the versus mode. From Russia With Love wasn't too bad, though the levels weren't as well designed and some of the new story they added was kinda lame.

I don't like Daniel Craig as Bond. He reminds me of 006. Seems more like a villain to me. If this game let you pick your actor like in Nightfire's multiplayer, I'd be okay with it, but I'm not down with swapping them out.

Dimnos Jun 16th, 2010 04:53 PM

I just want to say that I like Daniel Craig as Bond. I also liked the new movies and their more... realistic (?) tone.

Dimnos Jun 16th, 2010 04:54 PM

Oh and cant wait for this game. Its going to kick ass and all you haters can go fuck yourselves. >:

k0k0 Jun 16th, 2010 04:58 PM

I am a hater, and as for fucking myself...it's a bit early in the day for that. What am I, 13?

Dimnos Jun 16th, 2010 05:13 PM

I dont know.... Are you 13? Could be for all I know.

darkvare Jun 16th, 2010 05:28 PM

i would get this but there are a lot better games coming out a and i dislike the wii for fps so no buy

Guitar Woman Jun 16th, 2010 05:56 PM

Wow, they even kept the N64 graphics intact!

Ha!

k0k0 Jun 16th, 2010 06:01 PM

No, I'm 28. I wish I was 13 though. Then I could do a ton of illegal shit and not get any guff for it cuz kids will be kids.

Zomboid Jun 17th, 2010 01:18 AM

I also rank Goldeneye among my favorite Bond films. I like Daniel Craig as Bond too, though, so I'm not going to get upset about that part of this game.

I spent so much time playing Goldeneye on the N64 that I can't not be at least a little bit excited about this, but I really don't want to get into it and then be disappointed. Still, though, as long as the facility level makes a comeback (and it looks like it's going to), I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

The only footage from E3 that I've seen was some Kinect (is that what it's called) stuff and the Twisted Metal demo. The kinect thing is pretty lame. "NO MORE FUMBLING AROUND TRYING TO FIND THE REMOTE OR THE RIGHT BUTTON!" Really? How fucking stupid are you that you can't figure out how to navigate the dashboard without giving verbal commands to your xbox?

"WHEN YOU COULD BE FUMBLING AROUND TRYING TO GET YOUR XBOX TO WORK WITHOUT ONE!"

k0k0 Jun 17th, 2010 11:19 AM

I like the fact that I could walk in on my roommate and say XBOX STOP! just to piss him off.

Same here. I was real iffy about him before I saw Casino Royale but after it I feel like he fits in just fine.

Dimnos Jun 17th, 2010 04:23 PM

I was enjoying Casino Royale right up to the stairwell machete fight. Then I knew it was one of my favorite Bond films. :)

That was some of the best co-op on a console I've ever experienced. Suggs in the house.
