grimmest of grimm jammz.

barrock - la strega
soil sing through me - self titled
apotheosis - farthest from the sun
the darkness - one way ticket to hell and back
hollenthon - with vilest of worms to dwell
taal - skymind
alligator crystal moth - solis
toby driver - in the l..l..library loft
leviathan - silhouette in splinters
aidan baker - figures
marillion - misplaced childhood

CrazyBlackDude Dec 7th, 2005 07:40 PM

It's strange how you have a kickass band like Hollenthon mixed in with all that garbage.

i've told you guys i don't like blacks, haven't i?

Ninjavenom Dec 8th, 2005 05:00 AM

I didn't know Toby's new album was out! :O

What do Alligator Crystal Moth do? I like the name :o

ACM is a collaboration between brad rose (the north sea, corsican paintbrush, etc.) and micheal donnolly (brothers of the occult sisterhood, 6magik9, etc.).
really primal free-psych exploration at it's most direct and clear.

Ninjavenom Dec 8th, 2005 10:20 PM

Sounds neat.

Got anything electronic to reommend?

sadie Dec 8th, 2005 10:56 PM

threads like this make me feel so totally uninformed. i've never heard of even one of those bands. :(

Big Papa Goat Dec 9th, 2005 02:24 AM

love at misplaced childhood
I downloaded a 2cd version of that album with a bunch of demos and alternate mixes, its so very pretty

Mr. Fugo Dec 9th, 2005 02:46 AM

what Sadie said. Minus The Darkness and Marillion though. Wy is there such a major frequency of obscure-band listing around here?

iron mitchell Dec 9th, 2005 08:41 AM

re:

the marillion stuff is great. really fantastic band.
but, really, there aren't many "obscure band" (really, what may be obscure amongst one group won't be amongst another) listings around here at all.
if you haven't heard of it, check it out. you might like it... internet makes new music easy.

Mr. Fugo Dec 9th, 2005 12:37 PM

Yes, that's a fact; but I don't download music nowadays.

you lose.

Ihach Dec 11th, 2005 10:18 PM

ive just come to accept the fact that anything mitchell lists will make me feel uninformed. he usually has some pretty good taste though

Ninjavenom Dec 12th, 2005 02:30 AM

speaking of which, mitch, i have some stuff for you, if you are into electronic grindcore stuff, like Curse of the Golden Vampire :O

Krythor Dec 12th, 2005 03:24 AM

Weren't they on Ipecac?

That list has some interesting stuff, but the Darkness instantly devalues all of it.

re:

bad bumper?
ninjavenom, i somehow managed to ignore you twice in this thread! was just running back through it to remind myself how awesome i am (or rather, which fuckwad it was who dissed the darkness) and noticed... SORRY!!! I SUCK AT INTERNETS!!!
as for electronic stuff, i haven't been listening to much of it lately, but i do dig some... i don't think you can beat pierre bastien! dude builds his own robots who play instruments. uber-electronical!!!!! i used to really love add n to (x) and i heard their new album was really great. gotta check it out myself. small rocks have an album called "carbondating" that i really dig. check it if you like the zanier mouse on mars or blectum from blechdom stuff. i liked both of the soft pink truth albums and matmos already rule the roost, of course. pluramon's "dreams top rock" has been a great soundtrack to moving into my new house... really beautiful, dreamy electro-pop. oh, and get everything by fennesz if you haven't already! remind me and i'll try to go more in-depth. not enough time to really get going on this or i'll fall even farther behind with real life!
as for electronic grindcore stuff, i haven't heard much at all, that's for sure. i don't care much for grind (assuck is actually the only band that comes to mind that i like at all, in fact), but i have heard good things from a friend about curse of the golden vampire. i ignored him at first (after hearing a short audio clip online that i didn't care for), but i'll try to remember to download an album next time i'm on soulseek. whatever you wanted to let me hear, shoot it at me. i'll listen to anything! even my girlfriend's new kelly clarkson cd! and i won't even pour melted crayons on it this time!
