The Mars Volta fucking suck

Please PLEASE TELL ME SOMEONE OUT THERE DOESNT LIKE THEM

They are garbage, the aural equivalent to an emo band trying to be a King Crimson cover band. Yet for some inexplicable reason, EVERYONE LOVES THEM

It baffles me. I mean, it's not even like the members are cool. I saw a video of Omar whining at a concert because some kids were moshing. HOW IS THAT COOL?

PS. This thread is NOT here so you can defend this turd of a band. I just need to know that someone out there shares my hatred of them

The thought of an "emo King Crimson cover band" scares me.

And for the record, all "Emos" are wannabe Goths, who have face piercings their Mommy signed the consent form for and take their make-up stylings from Marilyn Manson. A Goth, much as I hate them too, would totally kick the shit out of an emo. They'd smack 'em in the face with a stolen tombstone or something then dance on their still-warm corpse to Christian Death or something like that. Ask an emo if "Bela Legosi's Dead" and see what they say.

Then ask 'em about Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford or the band "YES".

Then just straight up kick them in between their legs.

A friend of mine recommended Deloused in the Comatorium after I started checking out a bunch of prog rock bands. After sampling, among others, King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Alan Parson's Project, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Rush, Spock's Beard, and Umphrey's McGee in a matter of two weeks, nothing was as absolutely forgettable and as completely devoid of personality as much as the fucking Mars Volta. I couldn't stand it >:

The Mars Volta are horrible.

AlliSabbah Dec 21st, 2007 11:38 AM

Who in the blue hell are The Mars Volta?

Cedar Dec 21st, 2007 03:25 PM

I liked them when they where called At The Drive-In

werd123 Dec 23rd, 2007 08:20 AM

The Whining about the moshing...that could be the Australian Big Day Out where a women was killed during moshing during a Limp Biskit concert, long story short, after the incident all the bands felt guilty and did their best to stop the moshing.

Anyways, yeah Mars Volta sucks.

I kind of like them because their music is better than most stuff you hear on the rock stations.

But on the other hand I always get really bored for some reason when I listen to them.

So is this Mars Volta a spin off of At The Drive-In?

yes

JediScum Dec 25th, 2007 11:57 AM

Well, I thought At The Drive-In was decent. Not mind blowing but decent. Never heard any Mars Volta yet, to my knowledge.

Cedar Dec 25th, 2007 06:46 PM

at the drive-in is pretty good but the mars volta is boring IMO

:lol That's the funniest shit I've read in a while.

By the way, what's a Mars Volta? And why does that sound so gay?

Cedar Dec 25th, 2007 11:56 PM

he does the anti moshing speech since the old At The Drive-In Days, also for those that don't know the band

I concur.

Darktrooper11 Dec 31st, 2007 03:46 PM

I don't even know who they are... But judging from your description I would assume they are horrible.

Fathom Zero Dec 31st, 2007 04:05 PM

Don't group-think, please.

zeldasbiggestfan Jan 1st, 2008 02:09 AM

It's not horrible but definately not good. The Widow is about the only decent song there.

Ninjavenom Jan 7th, 2008 10:59 PM

Let me get in on this. I liked that one song they had out on the radio a little while ago whose name escapes me, the one where the chorus is "now i'm lost". Whatever that was called. Outside of that song, i think they're insanely pretentious, but especially on the lyrics front.

Cfr5 Jan 8th, 2008 01:30 PM

You mean that one song on their first album? Their first album wasn't that bad in my opinion, since I tend to focus on listening to the guitar pieces in songs. I really like Deloused's final song because of the riffs they played. Then it all went downcliff afterwards.

Rez Feb 1st, 2008 12:54 PM

about half of deloused is allright

the rest of the albums were pure garbage

Dixie Feb 1st, 2008 01:16 PM

After watching them live I haven't been able to listen to them.

Cosmo Electrolux Feb 1st, 2008 03:32 PM

they're no GWAR....

ElPila666 Feb 10th, 2008 12:08 AM

This guys only care about triping through the songs, they aren't care about make hits. when they was At-drive in they sound more like rise against the machine, then they add more latin elements on percussion like santana did in the 70's that you can hear in Deloused in the Comatorium , i guess is was written to a friend that became in coma, after the realese Frances the mute where they keep that feeling, both albums with Flea and John Frucsiante featuaring then in the followed studio album they fucked up the hole thing . Just kidding, i just didn't like the last one.

DevilWearsPrada Dec 2nd, 2008 08:10 PM

Bump :/

Frances the Mute's a pretty fucking epic album, but Bedlam in Goliath is terrible
