Gran Torino.

FUCK YES.

Gran Torino was easily one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Clint Eastwood is the man. Go see this movie now.

Hangie Dec 24th, 2008 07:40 AM

O'rly? I haven't seen any Clint Eastwood stuff in awhile, so I sort of assumed he lost his touch. I must've been wrong.

pac-man Dec 24th, 2008 11:24 AM

It looks like a racist old man doesn't want Asian kids in his neighborhood and when they try to get their frisbee back he's all, "Get off my lawn."

And it doesn't come out in the flyover states until the 9th. :(

Dimnos Dec 24th, 2008 11:32 AM

Is it just me or is ole Clint getting Skeletor creepy in his later years?

Ant10708 Dec 24th, 2008 12:43 PM

Clint Eastwood lost his touch? Someone hasn't seen Letters from Iwo Jima.

I can't wait to see this movie. Did you get to see an advance showing or something? I didn't think it came out until christmas day

pac-man Dec 24th, 2008 12:46 PM

It opened early in NYC and LA. What role does the car play?

That's what I got from the commercials too, like clint eastwood was a bad ass old guy with a shotgun and he doesn't like them orientals in his neighborhood

Tadao Dec 24th, 2008 02:29 PM

I don't know what comercials you guy saw, but the ones I saw make it look like Clint meets a punk kid who is surrounded by gang life and wants to not be. Clint helps him out by doing it for his pussy ass.

Edit: oops I meant to quote, not edit. :(

pac-man Dec 24th, 2008 03:33 PM

Yeah, different commercials altogether.

DevilWearsPrada Dec 24th, 2008 05:33 PM

I like my version better

Tadao Dec 24th, 2008 05:53 PM

Racist!

Kitsa Dec 24th, 2008 08:48 PM

For a second I thought it said Gran Turismo and thought it was some adaptation of the game.

Ant10708 Dec 25th, 2008 11:44 AM

Kitsa Dec 25th, 2008 01:52 PM

That's in my top 5 best films that I've ever seen... ever. Amazingly moving film. It's just a shame Flags of our Fathers was kinda' dull.

Though I'm defiantly going to keep an eye on Clint's directing career after LFIJ.

10,000 Volt Ghost Dec 26th, 2008 05:24 PM

Gran Torino looks great but I'm up in the air whether to see this or spirit in the theaters.

darkvare Dec 26th, 2008 05:27 PM

i don't think this will get to the theather near here

Supafly345 Dec 27th, 2008 06:58 PM

FUCK YEAH. This is the movie we've been asking for all these years. Keep all the academy award winning crap that he loves so much, while treating us to some classic Clint Eastwood TOUGHEST MAN ALIVE ass kicking.
The best part was how well they actually made it work.

Just finished watching this. I definitely didn't expect it to be that great but damn was I surprised. The dialogue had me laughing quite a few times. This is definitely a must watch.

Ant10708 Dec 29th, 2008 08:32 PM

This was a great movie. I laughed so hard the first hour. I love the clint eastwood old man facial expressions of disgust:rock

so happy i picked this movie to see on xmas over all the others

J. Tithonus Pednaud Dec 30th, 2008 09:33 AM

This was indeed an awesome movie. Best I've seen in awhile. It's a shame that Eastwood is getting so long in the tooth though. I think he's the last director of his generation and caliber still creating quality stuff. When he goes, I think it will be the end of an era of cinema.

My first car was a Gran Torino I bought for 100 bucks.

I saw The Wrestler yesterday as well. It was alright, not nearly as good as I'd heard. Pretty 'paint by numbers' actually.

Mockery Dec 30th, 2008 12:37 PM

Yeah, Rourke was awesome in The Wrestler, no doubt about it... but as far as the story itself goes, it wasn't anything new really.

J. Tithonus Pednaud Dec 30th, 2008 02:31 PM

It's actually funny as The Wrestler and Gran Torino are sort of similar in themes, most notably old-timer-types trying to make good, but end on different notes. Almost complete opposite notes - selfishness and selflessness.

Miss Modular Jan 10th, 2009 04:35 PM

Just got back from seeing this...so emotional.

I've heard that this will be his last film as an actor, and if it is...what a way to go.
