Steam Christmas Sale

We've all seen it. It's going on til Jan. 3rd.

So, what yall gonna get? I got Champions Online($10.19, less than the actual membership), and I bought myself Rainbow Six Vegas 2($6.49?) for myself and my brothers.

Any suggestions on fun multiplayer games that are on sale right now? Maybe a cool indie game that you already have and want to tell us about?

Steam is going all out this year!

Guitar Woman Dec 27th, 2009 08:29 PM

So far I've gotten:
Warrior Within
The Two Thrones
Beyond Good and Evil
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30

This totals to 20 dollars. :picklehat

I've got Psychonauts and Braid in my shopping cart for 12 bucks, but I'm hesitating. I know I will eventually, though.

Team Fortress Classic is under 4 dollars right now, but I have no idea whether or not people still play it. Plus, you know, I've got TF2, which is pretty much perfect.

Dead Space is 11 dollars, but I'm sure I couldn't run it.

Nick isn't fuckin* around. Nice way to commit man.

Nick Dec 29th, 2009 03:32 PM

If I didn't have a job or responsibilities I would sit around playing video games all day. :(

Guitar Woman Dec 29th, 2009 08:28 PM

Jade Empire for 4 dollars.

I have no idea what it is, but I was thinking "KOTOR in magical China" when I saw a little footage of it.

I also bought some games for other people just for the hell of it, but I'm probably already set back about 40 bucks by all the stuff I've gotten. The absolute last thing I'm going to buy is Psychonauts.

...No it won't be. Goddamnit, good deals, stop stealing my money.

MarioRPG Dec 29th, 2009 09:13 PM

There's some really fine games on there... I'll prolly pick some up some time... After the sale. I'm too strapped to cash in :/

darkvare Dec 30th, 2009 12:34 AM

can smeone explain me how exactly does steam works?

Guitar Woman Dec 30th, 2009 02:39 AM

You buy games, they're registered to your account forever, and you can download them on any computer as long as you're using your account.

My internet is slow as fuck, though, so it's going to take a week of solid downloading to actually get every game I bought. That and Steam is a little fucking buggy piece of shit that crashes at least twice daily and won't listen to me when I tell it to pause a download.

Like, I'll tell it to stop, right, so I can play some TF2. Then, when I connect to a server, my ping jumps to 400. I alt tab to catch Steam trying to quickly pause the download again. I resume the download, pause it and make sure it stays that way, go back to the game, and after the server I'm on switches maps the little bastard will start downloading again.

It's like when you tell a child to stay out of the fucking cookie jar, leave them alone for 5 minutes, then coming back to catch them stealing cookies. You beat them, tell them to stay the fuck out of the cookie jar, and then come back in another five minutes to find the little shits stealing more fucking cookies.

The weird thing is that it absolutely refuses to download when I'm playing an offline game that's still a Steam app. Fucking hate Steam; if these were all just deals I could use for normal retail copies of games, I'd go to a store and buy them.

Pentegarn Dec 30th, 2009 10:41 AM

This thread prompted me to download steam on my new comp finally (only been 5 months now, bout time I say)

darkvare Dec 30th, 2009 09:27 PM

wait so if i buy something from steam i have to be online to play it even if the game is not online?

executioneer Dec 30th, 2009 09:33 PM

i think it depends on the game, most games don't require you to be online but they usually require steam to be running

Yeah, pretty much.

There's an offline mode option, but it's more or less a joke

I kinda wish they had a Steam-Lite or something :(

I'm sure it will come around before we know it.

Guitar Woman Dec 30th, 2009 11:31 PM

Through all my complaining, I got Max Payne 2 and Left 4 Dead at a total price of 10 dollars today. That makes about 10 games I've bought during this thing for 50 dollars. :(

I'm not even sure if I've got room on my hard drive for all this stuff, but I'd feel silly if I missed buying anything at prices like this.

JE is a really nice game, one of my favorite Biowares games actually. Give it a spin.

Also DO get Psychonauts, that game is so damn good...man.

bigtimecow Jan 1st, 2010 02:31 PM

mass effect dropped to 5 bucks today, BOUGHT

Guitar Woman Jan 1st, 2010 11:49 PM

Sam and Max season 1 and 2 for 15 dollars is the best deal I've ever seen :(

BUT MY DEBIT CARD GOT DECLINED >: >: >:

MattJack Jan 1st, 2010 11:58 PM

Champions Online isn't really that bad. I mean I'm playing with three of my friends, so that is probably why, but even so it was def worth 10.19 + membership (14.99 for 60 days total).

I'm not much of an MMO man, so my opinion on this being a good game or not probably doesn't carry much weight.

Has anyone else had any experience with Champions Online?

MLE Jan 2nd, 2010 12:08 AM

I've been considering getting and playing it. If I do, could I play with you boozers?
