10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 4th, 2009 05:05 AM

Good choice. This might be the first video game I've ever played. My dad and I used to play this game a lot and try to get a higher score.

Truly a classic.

This looks like a game worthy of being in cell phones for those who seem to be trapped in a traffic jam... Although the v.s. computer feautre you said could be pointless.

10,000 Volt Ghost: Yeah, gotta love those times when one played games with the family. In my case, the game that had my dad an I kicking each other's asses was the magnificent Burgertime.

I remember watching my brothers play this a lot. Being the youngest at the time I got shafted out of playing. I also logged a lot of time on Burgertime, Beauty and the Beast, and Bump & Jump. I think I might go play when I get home today.

It sounds like a neat old game. I wouldn't mind picking up an Intellivision collection sometime.

This was released on the Atari 2600 as "Frogs and Flies."

If I recall correctly I think that the pain from the intellivision controllers was at least 10 fold of the NES controllers. However my brother liked that even though he was a lefty they had buttons on both sides.

I vaguely remember this. Gotta say I played it on Atari, but not Intellivision. I don't think I even knew anyone with Intellivision.

Icculus, the disc controller on the Intellivision was extremely comfortable and easy to control your characters with once you got used to it. The buttons on the side, however... yeah, your fingers would definitely be in for some serious pain after playing on the thing for a few hours heheh.

Cruxader, oh man, you missed out. The Intellivision was far superior to the Atari as far as I'm concerned. Much better game selection. Check out my reviews of "White Water!" and "Buzz Bombers" in the Shorts section of the site to see a couple of my favorite games on the system in more detail.

Update: After it took me about an hour to find the switch box for the back of the T.V. I was on my way to Intellivision nirvana. I was a litte disappointed when I found that my second controller had shit the bed so I couldn't play anything with two players. I forgot I had Tron, Deadly Discs. Easly top 5 all time games.

My favorite part of the intellivision though has to be the wood paneling. I guess thats how you made things classy looking back then though.

Rog, I did miss out. Like I said, I actually didn't know anyone with an Intellivision or Colecovision (that was the other one, right?). This wasn't from lack of friends or living in a third world country or anything, it's just everyone I knew had Atari. Basically Atari and the Apple IIe were responsible for taking my video game virginity.

Speaking of Apple IIe, check this website out. It's an online Apple emulator with TONS of old school Apple games. Enjoy.

This was one of the first games I ever played too since my dad owned an Intellivision and all kinds of awesome games including Frog Bog. It definitely was one of mine and my brother's favorite games, and still is. The sounds are especially wonderful and unique and I still remember them to this day.

And yes, I agree that Intellivision and Coleco were far superior to Atari.
