Nintendo 64 question

There is a small town located somewhere close to mine and it has a radioshack that is pretty rundown and probably hasent been visited for two years, anyways they have a big displaycase like at wall mart where they keep all ther games and shit, so they have about three or so n64 brand new in boxes and i was wondering if it would be worth buying one of them.

zeldasbiggestfan Jan 6th, 2007 12:05 AM

Depends on how much they want. You can get a decent used one for under 30 bux if you look hard enough.

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 12:07 AM

well these peices of shit are like 150 smackers so i would probably go the pawn shop route, but would much rather have a nes then a 64. I adore 64s basicly for paper mario.

DuFresne Jan 6th, 2007 12:37 AM

A brand new one is quite a find. I'd do it if I had the money to spare.

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 12:23 PM

Since i bought a wii i havent got money to spare for anything.

Chojin Jan 6th, 2007 02:11 PM

I got my n64 brand new for about $64 near the end of its life. Last I checked, they were going for $10 on ebay.

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 02:26 PM

Yea people dont really give a flying fuck about them anymore, because of the big hype over the wii and whatnot.

Zomboid Jan 6th, 2007 03:14 PM

Great system, even if it's old. There's plenty of games on there that are worth playing at least once.

Ninjavenom Jan 6th, 2007 03:51 PM

$150 is not worth it. Go with ebay.

edit: make sure you buy Turok 2.

Courage the Cowardly Dog Jan 6th, 2007 07:23 PM

i call bullshit. Radioshack never has sold videogames.

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 07:35 PM

Its a half assed hillbilly run radioshack connected to a ligh fixture store selling crap that i havent seen for 4 for years. Yes the have n 64s

DuFresne Jan 6th, 2007 08:04 PM

Just wondering: was anyone ever heard of an N64 dying? I mean just of old age, not by someone smashing it or eletrically frying it. They're seriously very well put-together, and mine still works as well as the day i bought it.

Angryhydralisk Jan 6th, 2007 08:33 PM

Seriously, when Gamestop was selling systems, used 64's were 20 bucks. Used NES' and SNES systems were 30. Finding a 64 is a hell of a lot easier than you think, because everyone had one. And by everyone, I mean everyone, their mom, and their family dog.

Plus it's common sense tobuy a Nintendo system used, because they are nearly indestructible.

Anyways, should you get a 64, the obvious games to get are:

- Super Smash Bros.
- GoldenEye 64
- Perfect Dark
- Anything first-person shooter, since the shitty controllers work with it fine.
- Mario Party

It's a party system, tried & true.

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 09:14 PM

also wht is the rarity of an dream cast? my friend had one and tried to take it to a pawn shop but they refused because it was too rare and there were no games available for it. Could someone confirm this.

executioneer Jan 6th, 2007 09:27 PM

you've gotta be kidding me

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 10:43 PM

i kid you not!

Uncle_Sham Jan 6th, 2007 10:45 PM

He was probably just being a lazy douche, am i correct?

Chojin Jan 7th, 2007 12:02 AM

'They refused it because it was too rare?' I hope your buddy isn't into jewellery, either.

Dreamcasts were $20 each, last I bought one in 2001.

executioneer Jan 7th, 2007 12:28 AM

i don't understand how pawnshops can stay in business these days, what with ebay and all

maybe it's the meth addicts who can't go use the library computer because they get kicked out for pissing on the books that keep them going, idk

Uncle_Sham Jan 7th, 2007 12:56 AM

No, im sure the general crooks keep the place nice and fresh, if you catch my drift

MarioRPG Jan 7th, 2007 09:39 AM

I'd buy a new 64 controller because after a few years of play you can barely move in games like Super Mario 64.

Uncle_Sham Jan 7th, 2007 01:03 PM

My friend got one for his birthday, and it was used. The system worked fine but the on controller, the joystick thing in the middle had no spring left it was all limpy and junk.

I hated that game. - Super Mario 64, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron are my top N64 picks.

Zomboid Apr 4th, 2007 02:14 AM

Old thread, but fuck shadows of the empire was fun. N64 had a ton of awesome games. Last game I bought for it was Castlevania 64 for 3 bucks.

timrpgland Apr 4th, 2007 12:24 PM

Shadow of the Empire was ok at best imo. It got a boost because it was one of the early games. The Boba Fett fight was cool at least and there were a few shining moments but, overall, it kind of sucked. I thought Rogue Squadron was a much funner star wars game.

Some of my favorite N64 games (in order of brain functioning):

Ogre Battle 64
Goldeneye
Mischief Makers
Paper Mario
Super Mario 64
Star Fox 64
Wave Race
Hybrid Heaven
Goemon's Great Adventure
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Starcraft 64
Quake II
F-Zero X
Earthworm Jim 3D
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Yoshi's Story
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Some of the WWF, WCW games
Excitebike 64
Mario Kart 64
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
BattleTanx
Blast Corps
Forsaken 64
Shadowgate 64
Turok (I only really liked the original)
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Doom 64
Jet Force Gemini
Conker
Perfect Dark
1080 Snowboarding
Super Smash Bros

I'm forgetting some.... some on accident, some on purpose :P

It's too bad we never saw Sin and Punishment over here.
