You've all outdone yourself. This game plays so smoothly and is the best flash game I've ever played. I can see coming back to this one again and again. Anyway, I'm only on the third area so I'm going to go play some more. Phenomenal work.

HowardC Jan 11th, 2012 04:10 PM

Just for the record, I can't play this on the site... it refuses to load.

It loads up instantly on newgrounds though.... I'm running IE9.

I haven't started playing yet, but I just wanted you to know in case it's a site issue.

Great game...still stuck on the first level though. The machine gun guy kicks my ass every time.

HowardC Jan 11th, 2012 04:46 PM

Man this game is prety awesome! Well worth the wait!!!

dextire Jan 11th, 2012 09:22 PM

I have now beaten it (so much more to do though). Absolutely fantastic! I really did love every minute of it!
It plays perfectly and I honestly didn't believe flash was capable doing anything close to the scale of this game.

It's just sensory and nostalgia overload from the sprites, to the music, and even (and some cases especially) the sound effects.
Oh yeah, and it's fun too. Really fun. And that really may be the best ending to any game I've ever played.

Thank you for making this game. :)

The_Punk_Hippie Jan 11th, 2012 10:28 PM

Well, that was fun while it lasted. I bitched & moaned at the Balloon Fight stage, but I persevered & got through it finally... only to be greeted with Flash Man's stage. 15+ lives later, & I admit defeat. I guess I'll just have to wait for someone to post a playthrough to youtube D:

Genrewriter Jan 11th, 2012 10:34 PM

Awesome stuff, Roger. Congratulations.

monster_movie_night Jan 11th, 2012 11:50 PM

the wait is finally here this game is best for retro gamers only oh yeah!!!

Nick Jan 12th, 2012 05:32 PM

I freaking loved this game, Rog. I streamed the count down on my livestream page. The viewers ate it up. Good job, man.

margo Jan 13th, 2012 04:28 AM

This game is so awesome yet frustrating sometimes. However, it is worth it. :)

Pharmasweaves Jan 14th, 2012 02:16 PM

bah i cant beat that danged old man. thought i had it
Spoilers!

That Other Guy Jan 15th, 2012 06:21 PM

TMNT electro-kelp and Flash Man lasers? I don't know where the line between old-school difficulty and sadism is (or whether the game crossed it or not), but I am pretty sure this trio of developers got a good close-up view of it.
That being said, great game! A big slam-run home-dunk. I just wish I could have had one of those USB converters to play with a real NES controller.

Genrewriter Jan 17th, 2012 05:41 PM

Good lord, the Zelda level is kicking my head in!

HowardC Jan 20th, 2012 06:47 AM

I'm loving this game btw... but I've noticed that we've went through a few minor revisions and I think you might have inadvertantly introduced some bugs.

Now in the first level, whenever I hold the "s" key the game speeds up as if throttling has been turned off.

Also the controls printed above have no bearing in the game.... the keys are "a" and "s" not a and b.

Mockery Jan 20th, 2012 02:56 PM

Thanks so much for all the compliments guys! We're incredibly overwhelmed by the success of the game so far... it's spread absolutely everywhere and already had over a million plays in under a week in addition to now being the #1 ranked game of all time on Newgrounds. Thanks to all of you who've helped spread the word about it!

We're still fixing some minor glitches here 'n there, and we will be releasing a free downloadable standalone version sometime in the near future with fullscreen capabilities.

Howard - Thanks, glad you dig the game. In regards to the "s" key throttling issue, we haven't been able to replicate it, and out of more than a million people who've played it, you're the only one to report this strange bug. What browser are you using? We recommend Firefox. IE has many known problems with Flash games as it is, including the sticking keys issue.

Genrewriter Jan 20th, 2012 03:44 PM

As soon as I beat this game I'm writing about it on my blog.

HowardC Jan 21st, 2012 09:35 PM

I found the source of the error Rog:

It's the newly released 64 bit version of flash player. The 32 bit version works just fine. It WAS working fine btw, it happened sometime between version 1.1 and ver 1.3.

Now if I can only figure out how to transfer over my save....

Genrewriter Jan 23rd, 2012 01:38 AM

Much as I'm loving this, I do have to say the frigging Mecharobobo is a truly frustrating enemy.

Genrewriter Jan 23rd, 2012 04:31 PM

Whew, finally beat the game. Awesome ending, and just a fantastic experience overall.

Deadly Towers Sux Jan 24th, 2012 01:24 AM

I almost fatally OD'd on awesome! Good job RoG and everyone else involved in ABA's creation, can't wait for the downloadable version!

Mockery Jan 24th, 2012 03:54 AM

Thanks! The free downloadable version will be coming very soon, and in addition to not needing a browser to play it, you'll be able to play it in fullscreen mode. I'll be sure to make a post as soon as it's ready.

Genrewriter Jan 25th, 2012 12:44 AM

Finally finished the game, here's the link to the review on my blog. Once again, fantastic job, Roger.

I noticed some Mother/Earthbound Zero characters here and there. Props for including them, but I wish there was more, like a Mother style boss, but great stuff nonetheless.

fishymeatshoe Feb 9th, 2012 05:26 PM

Rog, I just wanted to thank you and team bobo for a great game! I really enjoyed it and the medals just keep me playing it more.

Well done!
