The babies from silent hill 1.

We used to call them the chili chitlins.

Imagine being 3 years old and trying not to think of this fucker suddenly swooping in your room when you're trying to sleep at night :( |
Fuck all of these assholes, especially the Shalebridge Puppets. It's bad enough that they're terrifying and make the lights flicker when they get close, but they're also impossible to kill without a shitload of expensive and impractical fire arrows, even on the standard difficulty setting. The Thief games in general are full of goddamn terrifying shit, but I think 3 was the worst. |
Oh yeah, I forgot how freaky the zombies on thief 1 were when me and my bud were on acid.
|
Man, I knew someone was going to post ReDeads. I can't think of a more "holy shit" moment during a video game than when I left the future's Temple of Time for the first time

They're deffo the worst. The Windwaker versions were creepy too, even if they looked like Dhalsim and sounded like elephants.
The ones in Twilight Princess were pretty disappointing, just like everything else in that game. Vampire The Masquerade had that Snuff Film quest, which was pretty gruesome by itself, but then you had the sewers that were full of homoncului stitched together from random body parts, and that one giant boss monster made from a pregnant woman fused with her fetus. Yuck. |
The Medusa from Ecco II was also horrifying to me. I'm a dolphin flying in the air being chased by a giant squid-like creature. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO? |
Wow, I know some people who are gonna get a My Melody nightlight for Christmas.
|
The Regenerators from RE4. The giant shark in REmake. And, even though it's a damn conventional choice, Pyramid Head.
|
Do you ladies need a phone call from your mommies every time you turn on a game console? JESUS CHRIST.
|
Shampoo my crotch, sam. Some games are scary as shit.
|
OH NO! LOUD NOISES AND FLASHING IMAGES FRIGHTEN ME!
|
None of these really involve loud noises or jump-out scares, j/s
|
the zombies in resident evil 1 scared the shit out of me too. i'm also talking about the scissorman from the PS clock tower.
i think the common thing that was so frightening about these guys was their choppy framerate. they constantly moved the way you see people move under a strobelight, and i think it unintentionally triggered some sort of fear response in me keep in mind all this shit scared me when i was like 12 |
I thought the zombies from the gamecube remake were worse, since they would come back to life and inevitably scare the shit out of you when you were backtracking somewhere.
And there's not nearly enough fuel to burn all of them, so... |
Only the first time. Iron Maidens were pretty bad too. |

I was scared of all sorts of video game shit that makes no sense when I was three. I had a couple of nightmares about the Coin Ship from Mario 3, and Baron von Blubba from Bubble Bobble :pussy
|
the cyber midwives in system shock 2 really unnerved me when i first played it
|
The worst part about ReDeads was the sound they made when they gabbed you.

It's something an... average person like you wouldn't understand. |
I have a religion I'd like to sell you.

even empty corridors but yeah the midwives are creepy on so many levels, especially if you listen to all the audio logs |
Not an enemy per se but a game. Fatal Frame 3. That thing scares me and I think it´s the only game that can do that to me. Back in the day, I really hated the Hunters from RE. You could hear them walking around and you knew, one wrong move and you´re dead :)
The crimson heads were pretty nasty too with their insta-rise-and-claw-your-fucking-head-off and whatnot |
|
Not scary but it definitely had my guts bubblin' when I first encountered the human reaper larva in Mass Effect 2. Too bad it wasn't that hard to kill but god damn was that thing amazing:

and yeah i know sinistar unleashed, but i mean a GOOD remake |
Good remake would be welcome in my quarter. The problem is how the hell do you NOT make it repetitive? Besides, the big guy just isn't cool in 3d
|
it doesn't HAVE to be in 3d does it :( maybe they could make it have... rpg elements or something? fuck idunno
|
give me a hug |
I could also add that huge Ghost from Fatal Frame 2 that distorted Reality. He never left his room but you had to pass through there more than once...the whole color changing and stuff...it was kinda intimidating, but as said before, Spirits is where it´s at concerning my personal fears.
|
The monsters in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Even though the monster design isn't that original, the atmosphere of the game make up for it and they become a thing to avoid.
The monsters in Silent Hill 2 you cannot see. For example, the underground prison scared the piss out of me. There is a cellblock where you hear this really freaky sounding monster waltzing around in one of the cells. It is too dark to see it and it can't hurt you, but I always ran through that corridor as fast as I could so I wouldn't have to listen to the sounds. Also in the beginning of the game when you walk on the dirt road, you hear footsteps behind you. That always made me feel uneasy. |

Yes, executioneer, dragon warrior. There were drakees and magidrakees. The magidrakees were a bitch to kill.
|
Not like metal slimes were, damn things always went viva la France on me when I was about to kill them
|
|

My friend sent me this on facebook and I think it's pretty much the perfect Crimson Head image from the game.

Idk who scissorman is but when I was a little kid it scared the everloving hell out of me in Friday the 13th for NES when you were rowing and Jason zoomed by in the water. Dunno what it was about that but it was completely unnerving to me.

That's pretty much what Mr Kitsa said when I asked him, but he played through again just to make sure.
He works in "the industry" and is usually my reference for these things. Edit: I was probably being wussy, in retrospect, but when you're a kid weird things scare you. |
Friday the 13th spooked me when I was a kid too. I would watch my cousins play it and Jason popping out of nowhere in the cabins never failed to startle me.
|
Stupidly, it's the music that I was creeped out from on friday the 13th on the nes as a kid.
|
The music from Jaws The Revenge for NES kind of did that to me a little.
