Fun AT the movies

Ever have more fun at the movies than the movie itself? with the sad state of recent offerings this is probally so.

One time I won a free movie pass in an art contest that I wanted to use on Ace Ventura 2. It was a star movie, no passes allowed. So I had to see the other movie starring the nice man from driving miss daisy. Se7en- lucky day- my mom kept screaming!

another time my brother and I talked mom into a dollar theatre viewing of Species. "don't worry mom, Geiger designed the alien, we're here for the art!"
the only other people in the theater was a middle aged black guy with his two kids (8 or younger). this situation introduced me to black man in a theatre- it really can make a movie better! "Baby don't go in that bathroom! Nooooooooo!"

when I went to see South Park:B.L.U. I snuck a 2 lbs bag of animal crackers inside my pants( strapped the belt through the middle). the ticket taker asked "what's in your pants?" and I said "my penis". the crackers i didn't eat were thrown about the theater.

when I went to see The One (jet li)- I was fucked up. I really had to piss before the movie, but when I used the urinal, the bathroom was all cloudy and i kept coughing. I rambled something to an usher about the "shitty bathroom", and about 10 minutes into the flick the manager bursts into the theater screaming "evacuate evacuate!! staw away from the bathrooms! RUN!!!". This being shortly after 9/11, mass hysteria insued. Turned out to be a mace bomb, but I didn't get to see the One till dvd. stingy ass theater didn't even give rainchecks!

The last movie I actually saw in a theatre was "Hannibal Rising", which I actually liked. It was 4 days after the premiere in my shithole town, in February, and it was a matinee.

I was the only one in the theatre.

So I lit up a cigarette, pull out the beers i smuggled in, and HAD FUN.
Yelling "HELL YEAH!!!!!" whenever young Lecter bit into a face.

My only complaint with the theatre experience is that I always want to use the Pause button, which I don't have.

Last time I went to the movies, they had this new blowing hand-dryer installed in the bathroom, and guess what: IT ACTUALLY DRIED YOUR HANDS! And fast too, as opposed to those pieces of shit where you'll end up wiping your hands on your pants 'cause you don't feel like waiting for 2 minutes. But here's where the actual fun comes in: If you moved your hand above it (it blew upwards) you could feel and see your skin rippling from the air blowing against it. Well, I had fun with it anyway.

does it counts if you are laughing at the crapiness of the movie and not the joke in it

No, I can't say that I have. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a movie in the theaters that I didn't like. The only time I've come across such films would be on the television or rented video/DVD.

We were watching RE Extinction, and there was some chick sitting in front of us that I kept scaring in the tense parts (if you can call them that) until she insisted on sitting next to me so I couldn't startle her.
Win/win!

Slept from opening to ending of Alien versus Predator. I didn't plan on it, but I guess my shitty movie fuse broke when the title hit the screen.

ItalianStereotype May 27th, 2008 05:15 PM

soooo you stayed because you wanted to bitch about it four years later on a message board?

I stayed because I was asleep...

I fell asleep because I was tipsy/tired...

I have since seen the movie, and would rather sleep than watch it...

THEREFORE:

In retrospect I had fun passing out at AVP. Not "popcorn trick" fun, but a damned sight more fun than I would've had watching that POS.

Jesus... just be glad I didn't steal a fucking Simpsons joke.

When I went to see Snakes on a Plane, one of my friends brought a bunch of paper airplanes with snakes on them, threw them around the theater and made hissing sounds. By the time the previews started, the whole theater was hissing. I got a good laugh out of it.

It was the second night Slither was open and I was the only one in the theater aside from the back-asswards projectionist to see it.

It was great. You only get a few truly great experiences like that in a lifetime.

When I saw Episode II I was drunk, and I thought it kicked ass.

Then I saw it sober....

SIMPSONS

you paid $9 so that you could take a nap. you paid $9 instead of staying at home to cry about your life and you enjoyed paying money for something you do every night anyway.

When my brother managed a theater a few years ago he let me in after closing to watch Jackass 2. Nothing beat having a whole theater to myself as I got free popcorn, smoked cigarettes, and pounded down several beers.
