Because of the crappy weather recently, the Phils now get to play 33 games in 31 days. Shades of the '50's. :\
Don't worry they will easily win 20+ of them :lol
Congrats to the White Sox for pushing a couple of runs over in their sweeptastic 18-2 nail-biter last night. If Detroit could keep up with that kind of hit production, they wouldn't have to worry about finding three more Verlanders for their pitching rotation.
Only Philly gets 4 (or in their case 5) Verlander caliber arms in their rotation
I'm not too fussed by the Phil's protest being disallowed by MLB, but really - where is it written that Joe West gets to use instant replay whenever the hell he wants? If that were the case, what about last year's one-hit perfect game thrown by Armando Gallarraga (and blown by Jim Joyce)?
If you can review an on-the-field ruling of a ground-rule double, you can review a botched call of safe at first base. Mr. Selig, you can't have it both ways. Douchebag. |
Funny sh*t. The Brewers' Nyjer Morgan goes off...again...
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big...rn=mlb-wp18859 Also, speaking of Selig... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_yl...ld_card_090711 |
A Tiger win coupled with a Tribe loss tonight secures the AL Central crown for Detroit. Scherzer is on the hill for the Tiges, hoping the GOOD end of his inconsistent ways wins out.
Tigers lose, ending their long streak, but the good news is that Cleveland cannot afford one more loss. Add to that that they are a Cleveland sports team and this means Detroit has the AL central in the bag
Starting to get the divisions clinched right and left. The Brewers, Diamondbacks and Rangers all clinched
Divisions decided. Now we wait on the WildCards. The Sax are embarrassing themselves, but the Rays aren't capitalizing. The Cards look a little better than the Braves. Meanwhile...Verl is having a helluva time trying to get his 25th right now. But it's tight. We'll see...
Wow. Holy shit. This has to be the most exciting night of baseball in decades.
I had completely written the Cardinals off a couple of weeks ago. They were playing like a dead team. I will now happily eat my plate of crow, stock up on beers, and prepare to park my ass in front of some playoff baseball. Go Cards! |
I was sure that they'd have to go to a playoff with the Braves, since the Phils set up "pitching by committee" in the final game, while the B's went with their ace. Just goes to show how badly Atlanta choked.
Not to say St. Louis didn't have to play the stuffing out of September to recoup. Congratulations Cards! See you on Friday, sspad! And nice to have you back! :) |
Don't know what it is but this is the most interesting postseason since Kirk Gibson played for the Dodgers
God pulled Verlander. Leyland should've pulled Fister.
You know the Yankees have too fucking much bank when God is on their roster >:
God threw us a bone. Scherzer and Valverde team up for a Game 2 win. I reckon Porcello is up after the return of Verl tomorrow night.
I'm praying hard........that Fister gets the flu.
Tigers certainly can't bother to win it decisively can they? No, they gotta make it come down to a 1 run game
Really, Pent, can you think of a more satistying ending than Valverde striking out A-Fraud?
Although seeing Posada crying was a close second.

The Tigers won it with pitching. NY apologists are pouring in. Even on-air sportsanalities are saying the Yanks have had weaknesses all season...that this was not a "typical" Yankee championship team. Yet Nova was an unexpected star. and Jorge was an example of a veteran still in form. Bottom line: with a $100 million payroll, the standards are high. In NY, they're even higher.

chemistry wins championships, not bank, and until the Yankees of the 21st century figure this out, they will not win 1/4 World Series like the Yankees of the 20th century did |
I'd say better luck next year, but luck had nothing to do with the Phils collapse. That was pure skill. :(
