It looks cool but I'll probably never find a book of these
I remember Pogo, although I was too young and stupid at the time to recognize it for the genius it was. R.I.P. Walt Kelly.
I need to get a copy of this ASAP.
I must have this. And I'll Wikipedia open at all so I can get the jokes.
I am ashamed to say I am unfamiliar with this.
A lot of Kellys books can be got cheap used from Amazon.com
I am only familiar with Pogo from a clayamation feature that went totally over my head.
lets see.. cut and paste from Imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087925/ Pogo for President: I Go Pogo (1980) and I watched on HBO so I was....7-8 no wonder it went over my head. But I know I watched at least 3 times. |
POGO GOOD
Sorta like the Lenny Bruce of comic strips eh Burbank?
There were some original strips, and the creator's daughter (who still does the comic) at Anthrocon last year. It was some seriously hardcore shit for such a cute, kiddie comic. This thing doesn't get the praise and recognition it deserves.
It's a work of beauty, that's what it is. I got a Pogo collection at a garage sale last year, and I was astounded.
