Toy Collection

Since this forum is also for toys, I thought it would be fun to show off some pics of our toy collections.

As some of you know, I'm an avid Transformers collector. So I figured you all would probably prefer pictures of some of my G1 stuff.

That's Jetfire misb. If any of you wonder why it looks like a Robotec toy, thats because it is one. The toy mold for Jetfire was leased from Bandai prior to Hasbro knowing that Matchbox would do the same for Robotec. So thats why he looked different on the cartoon and was called Skyfire instead. Just to avoid any legal drama.

Somehow I ended up with two Metroplex toys in box. The one on top is misb, and the one on the bottom is actually the result of me completing a Metroplex from spare parts and finding his box (with styrofoam insert). Only thing missing is a few small parts (he has a ton) and instruction manual.

The fifteen year-old has spoken. :rolleyes

Microshock Sep 24th, 2009 09:56 PM

It's a nice toy, even though the old G1, G2, whatever other ones arent my thing and im more into the movie ones.

Bring on the hate

robo_rob Sep 24th, 2009 10:07 PM

No, it's cool. I buy the movie ones too, and the animated, and the BW. I like having a change in product every few years.

Here's some more pics.

This is last years BotCon exclusive set. The current organizers like to do the toy exclusives as a themed boxed set, with additional toys available at the con for purchase. That years theme was a mirror universe with evil Autobots and heroic Decepticons. The additional figures avalible at the con were Megatron, Rodimus (complete with evil goatee), and a few others. I would show them also, but at the moment they are in a box under a few other boxes and I would rather not dig through them right now.

Here's a pic of the set inside the box. As you can see there is an evil Optimus, evil Jazz (with Massacre Racing lettered across his windshield), evil Grimlock, evil Goldbug, a heroic Starscream, and heroic Razorclaw (they used a smaller toy for him and the other Predacons, so in story they were the victims of a shrink ray by those pesky Autobots). The whole thing was done very tongue in cheek, so it was pretty fun.

I was hoping others would post pics of their various toys also, maybe I should have named the thread better?

Keep your autobot pants on, I'll post pictures tomorrow.

So as promised, here's what's taking up space on my shelves.

nice collection fellas, maybe I'll sound like an idiot, but who is the guy up front and center in the last pic captain? Is it a variation of someone I already know?

captain516 Sep 26th, 2009 12:54 AM

That's Nite Owl 1 from Watchmen. I guess you could say its a variation on the one that actually appears in the movie.

I didn't get into Transformers until just recently, when I got the two motorcycle dudes. They've got some funky designs that I kinda like, even though posing them is a pain in the ass.

I'll have to rent a camera from the school one of these days and post my collection. It's split right now between a few I have on my desk in my dorm, and the stuff I've got back at home.

darkvare Sep 26th, 2009 04:58 PM

captain516 Sep 26th, 2009 09:10 PM

darkvare Sep 26th, 2009 09:12 PM

yeah zitz to be exact

robo_rob Sep 27th, 2009 01:47 PM

Awesome, when I get home I'll post a few more pics. My collection in it's current state is pretty much impossible to photograph as a whole. So I have to do smaller pics.

Mockery Sep 27th, 2009 02:13 PM

Since most of my toys are in boxes due to a lack o' space in my current place, here's pics of some o' my toys from my old place back in Richmond:

Phoenix Gamma Sep 27th, 2009 02:42 PM

Ok, thats Grimlock from the Masterpiece line. Essentially Masterpiece is a collector oriented line with super high detail and quality toys. The Optimus toy has seen two releases in US, as well as the Starscream toy and this Christmas the Skywarp toy will be available. The U.S versions tend to be cheaper, so I try to jump on those. There was a Marvel Special Edition of the Grimlock (not sure if it's been released yet) with Grimlock in more 80's comic colors, with extra accessories from the comics, and a box replicating 80's Marvel comics.

This is what my basement looks like, boxes and boxes of Transformers.

I also collect Transformers related products as well.

Thats a Beast Wars Silverbolt and Waspinator misb, well Waspinator isnt exactly misb. He's been autographed by his voice actor, Scott McNeil. (reads out- Rob, Waspinator have a headache in whole body- Scott McNeil) (I'm pretty sure, I'm misspelling his name). Underneath is two OTFCC exclusive Sunstreaker toys misb (as close to misb gets with the flimsy packaging that year, and no tape to seal boxes), you got that toy by staying in the conventions registered hotel, and got one for each night you stayed. I ended up with four. Oddly enough, there was a packing error that resulted in mismatched weapons in a bunch of the Sunstreaker boxes. There was a big parts swapping party at the con, but I still ended up with one box with mismatched weapons. I kept it that way for memories sake.

captain516 Sep 27th, 2009 11:24 PM

Yes but do you play with any of them?

darkvare Sep 28th, 2009 12:25 AM

i play with all of mine i even try making stop motion movies but they are incredible tiring

Microshock Sep 28th, 2009 01:31 AM

Damn, it's toys like that that make me wish i was in the loop of things, but i sure as hell wasnt born in the 80's.

Anyway, what do you plan on doing with the unopened toys, sell them later on or keep as a display item forever?

captain516 Sep 28th, 2009 01:38 AM

Vare: I know what you mean, I keep trying to make some videos too, butalways end up quitting halfway.
Microshock: I highly doubt any of my stuff is worth anything. So I'll either end up keeping it or giving it to a kid.
