New "Jobby"

I start a new job tomorrow. For the next two years I am going to be adding all the sound effects to a new cartoon series thats going to be on UK TV, Cartoon Network and some Canadian channel later this year.

Its called 'The Adrenalinis' and its about 3 circus performers from a fictional eastern european country...they have their own language, and they travel the world setting up elaborate circus stunts that go horribly wrong. Each episode is 7 minutes long...I have seen a few pilot/test episodes, and read the scripts for the first few we are doing and it seems pretty funny and cool.

I have never done anything like this before professionally, so its a bit scary, but bloody exciting too. I got the job due to my employer hearing a load of my laptop mash-ups of music/speech/sound effects.

So I will get paid to watch cartoons and make stupid noises all day. Woo Hoo!

You know, I've been told that "jobby" is English slang for poo.

Congratulations, though. Perhaps you'll get to make some jobby sound effects. ;)

That is a sriously excellent job, Dole, and a great way to have gottten it too. Sort of like a movie star getting discoverd at a soda fountain counter, except you didn't have to fuck anyone.

That sounds well cool! Well done dole! :)

How did they hear your "mashups"?

What sort of sounds will you have to make?

I used to watch YTV all the time when I was little. They had cartoons on all the time. It's part of basic cable packages for most of the country, I think.

Groovy...I thought it be some really obscure channel no-one knew about..

basically a cd of my stuff ended up with a friend of a friend, he heard it, called me up and offered me the job! I will be taking sound effects from library cds for the most part, manipulating them when necessary, but once I find my feet I hope to make a fair few of my own.

:) You can make new kool sounds like they did with the light sabers for star wars!
