How would you change the I-Mockery forums?

As I mentioned before, there are gonna be big changes around here in the not-too-distant future. Many of you are always bellyaching about this or that, so here's a formal thread for you to officially put your suggestions in my hat. OFFICIALLY.

I suggest that anyone with a south park avatar has to pay each of us $0.25 to read their posts, per view.

Rongi Jul 30th, 2007 09:22 PM

i think zeldasbiggestfan should be neutered

you know, just incase his sister sits on one of his cumshots

Zomboid Jul 30th, 2007 10:45 PM

Place a cap on the amount of posts new members can make her day.

ArrowX Jul 31st, 2007 02:31 AM

2nd'ed zomboids

also make us able to edit Thread Titles if possible note my "Cillicon Knights Sues Epic Games" thread

Creepy-critters Jul 31st, 2007 11:58 AM

I propose we replace the forum infrastructure with a block of goat cheese

Fathom Zero Jul 31st, 2007 02:16 PM

I'd like the neon green and red colors back, even if it's just optional.

Chojin Jul 31st, 2007 06:07 PM

you can't edit your own threads' titles? willie obviously could.

kahljorn Jul 31st, 2007 06:35 PM

I would make that guy named Kahljorn a supreme administrator on the message board so he can trick people.

Chojin Jul 31st, 2007 08:30 PM

So, I would like some actual suggestions.

kahljorn Aug 1st, 2007 12:21 AM

Some guy above you made an actual serious suggestion.

Zomboid Aug 1st, 2007 12:50 AM

That was me.

Guitar Woman Aug 1st, 2007 02:04 AM

An ignore thread feature, which I give credit to milhouse for thinking of.

Also, I don't know if you've fixed this, but I'd like it that when I've read every new thread in a forum, the icon for that forum turns gray without me having to go back into it a few dozen times.

Guitar Woman Aug 1st, 2007 02:13 AM

I'd also enjoy having an edit button again if it's not too much angst and suffering on your part :(

Emu Aug 1st, 2007 02:26 AM

No limit on avatar sizes. It gives you a reason to replace the avatars of morons with furry porn if they have unreasonably large ones.

AChimp Aug 1st, 2007 09:40 AM

I want the ability to ban people with the click of one button, rather than typing their name in on a different page!

AChimp Aug 1st, 2007 09:41 AM

Also, Rog needs to upload some TTF fonts into some directory or something (so says the vBulletin anti-spam threads) so that the CAPTCHA for user registration isn't easy to crack.

Unless we can ban all Gmail addresses. :(

Is that another one of your mental problems where you are physically unable to click on a thread you don't like? I seem to have no problem doing it with your threads.

And I think Milhouse was joking when and if he said that because it's the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard.

As a serious suggestion, I suggest putting an actual Under 18 block on all Loveline threads and that disgusting porn thread that is in Mock Wars. Kids are naturally stupid and will go anywhere for acceptance and shouldn't be corrupted anymore by the workings of a robotic porn spammer, a 40+ year old codger and his online mistress, and an a guy with a wandering eye for every gross porn site on the web. It's bad enough they are wasting their best years on the internet. Why should we be responsible for turning them into sexual deviants that think this board needs a THREAD IGNORE FEATURE, UGH!

I hate kids, but not that much.

darkvare Aug 1st, 2007 12:32 PM

a little bigger default font i almost can't see it

Fathom Zero Aug 1st, 2007 12:59 PM

As good as grey on black is, I'd appreciate a lighter color for the font.

Guitar Woman Aug 1st, 2007 01:53 PM

Gadzooks, the ignore thread feature would make it so that if someone makes a new post in a thread and you don't care because you hate the thread, it won't show up as having new posts. Or something, it's mainly because I hate it when the music forum has a new post every five minutes and it's from the fucking what are you listening to thread, then I click on the forum and am disappointed that there are no actual posts to be read.

Cfr5 Aug 1st, 2007 04:04 PM

But there are posts to be read.

noob3 Aug 1st, 2007 04:59 PM

i need to be more important

Guitar Woman Aug 1st, 2007 05:00 PM

Sure, but that doesn't mean I wanna fucking know about it.

Don't you think that letting them post as much as they want sorta tells you right off the bat whether or not they suck, though? If there's a limit set by the software, you might not know until it's too late and suddenly they're vets and they change their name to Carnivore or something.

I'll actually look into this one, because with the changes I'm making to the forums, the ratio of threads to forums will be a LOT bigger. Plus, the most-bumped threads are usually the worst ones.

I've never needed a reason to give someone a furry porn avatar in the past, and making more work for myself in the future (having to go in and manually reset their profile every time some idiot from gamefaqs thinks they can bring Harry Potter in HD-DVD to their avatar box) doesn't seem like a good idea. Unless I'm missing something here.

I agree big time. To add to this, I'll also look into returning the 'find out who this fuck this actually is' button from phpBB, and make IP bans a little easier too.

Neither of these forums are going to exist on the new boards, and the NSFW thread won't exist either. The software age limit might actually be a good idea as a thread option that the original poster can set, though, and I'll look into that. Not that it's especially hard to HACK THA SYSTEM, but if I can retroactively set peoples' ages back too, this might also serve as an idiot barrier for good threads.

Agreed. Anyone have a problem with this?

I kinda like the muted colors of the forum. Is anyone else having issues? Your monitor may also be darkening due to old age. :eek

Good suggestions, everybody, keep 'em coming :picklehat

Guitar Woman Aug 1st, 2007 05:21 PM

No porn thread? :tear
