The Rom download site link exchange posty!

DO NOT ASK FOR/OFFER ISOs IN THIS THREAD OR FORUM. DO NOT POST REQUESTS FOR ROMS/ROM CATEGORIES WITHOUT POSTING A NEW ROM SITE LINK IN THIS THREAD.

I thought I'd make a new post for this since new sites are constantly appearing, and more importantly, existing sites are constantly going down and closing. The two biggest sites I know of:

http://www.edgeemu.com

http://www.planetemu.net

edgeemu.com is constantly unavailable one way or another, and for some reason I can't properly open the zip files I download from planetemu.net. Maybe it's their high security. Anyone know of any other good rom download sites currently available? I'm interested mainly in NES, SNES and Sega Genesis roms, but let's all help each other out.

And of course, sites that offer hacked roms would be a big help too.

James Feb 4th, 2003 02:01 PM

I have one site for rom hacks. And I'm NOT giving it out. It's mine.. my only... my precccioussss. >:

As for roms, I have this one for MAME:

http://mamefans.metropoliglobal.com/roms.htm

It's all in Spanish, so I can't understand anything beyond the game titles. I don't even know what version MAME is anymore (after MAME.Net pussied out and took their roms down, I really stopped paying attention).

Black Midnight Feb 4th, 2003 05:36 PM

You want old, NES ROMs? have a look here.

this site only has snes roms and znes emualtor but it's got plenty of good games

www.qualityroms.com

a pretty good site with gens, nes, and snes games and the best emulators for each plus ArchNacho and Tortilla Godzilla are pretty funny

lunaticghost Feb 11th, 2003 05:47 PM

i go to Jaccinc, its not to bad with some GBA, snes, and others. to get the the gateway go to www.jaccinc.com/emulation/rom_gateway.shtml :bow

D3k Feb 12th, 2003 02:29 AM

http://www.cherryroms.com/

For most of your SNES needs. Except some games that are IDSA protected. But for those you can use any other rom site or any decent p2p program.

PuffyMcpot Feb 13th, 2003 07:26 PM

thenationnet.com, they are the best i know of.

Skulhedface Feb 20th, 2003 01:29 AM

The best I knew of are coolroms.com and freeroms.com. Of course, someone already mentioned Cherryroms.com. One problem with Freeroms is that even with a cable modem it still takes forever and a day to DL them.

The best site I know of to find some rarer NES roms is Marbysworld.com. Hope this helps. And btw, I know this sounds stupid, but I've found every GB rom I could EVER want except Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. If ANYONE has this or knows where to find it that's not a broken link, I'd greatly appreciate it.

AlienGremlin Feb 22nd, 2003 02:03 AM

How about sites with alot of GBA roms? I'm specifically looking for Sea Trader: The Rise of Taipan

Milkman Dan Feb 26th, 2003 06:48 PM

Filemirrors.com is the best place I know of for mame roms.

PuffyMcpot Feb 26th, 2003 07:12 PM

http://members.madasafish.com/~kefka/ heres another, it's good for snes roms

Please tell me some good sites for PSX ISO's, particularly Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Thanks

Another good thing you MIGHT try, when going to any of these websites is to look at the LINKS section, every so often you'll find a winner. I only mention this because it's incredibly easy to overlook it.

Psx ISO's

Hey the guy just asked a site and normally you guys should give it to him instead of acting like a 10 year old. I don't have a Psx Iso site either. That's because of the rather large filesize of the ISO and not many sites want to serv it. I would say you go and d/l Kazaa from www.kazaa.com. Then you can download a few psx roms like metal gear solid and tenchu and Dragonball GT: Final Bout. Other than that i would like to say that emulation is mostly history :( . To many good sites or losing roms or closing up because of legal problems or not enough votes. SO PEOPLE, KEEP THE EMULATION ALIVE

Cap'n Crunch Mar 9th, 2003 12:09 AM

www.theoldcomputer.com

It has NES, MAME, Atari and all of that old shit.

Skulhedface Mar 9th, 2003 07:01 PM

I'd say the problem with the VOTING sites is that EVEN AFTER FUCKING VOTING the roms still don't work. So I prefer, as I'm sure others do, to stay AWAY from sites that require votes. Any link I've tried from those "Top 50 Sites" do NOT work, at least for me.

I think that people prefer just getting straight to the roms (much like CherryRoms.com)

FS Mar 10th, 2003 06:32 AM

http://goodroms.emuchina.net

One of the sites posted in this thread required that you voted on two sites before downloading the rom, or else it would be corrupted (the site also declared it would shut down unless they got a certain number of votes through by the end of the month). I stay away from those sites because I simply don't believe that the download can be any different if you do vote.

Do you get a site with dead links, or nothing at all? Some time ago it had a large selection of roms for download, but after that they had constant server troubles and you'd get a message when trying a download telling you the server wasn't working, they were relocating, etc. Could be that they finally shut down now.

darthmaiden, if people ask for specific roms without giving out a link in the process, this thread can rapidly fill up with posts no one has use for. If you're really stumped on findind a specific game, make a new thread for it.

James Mar 10th, 2003 07:03 AM

EdgeEmu is still up and running. Problem is, they just never have their roms database working. None of their NES roms are even linked at the moment, and anything that is link is to a broken link.

The Unseen Mar 10th, 2003 02:18 PM

go to google and search for "Classic snes roms" its one fo the top 3, the beginning of the address is mariconda.com

It's not shut down, it's just that I've literally tried it once a day since I read that post, since they had quite a few roms listed I could not find ANYWHERE else, and the links aren't broken but I always get the same ol' song and dance about Server Problems.

BTW the link trick I mentioned earlier DOES work wonders. Sometimes you have to rely on trial and error because the links will have nothing written beside them or in the link itself to let you on that you're going to a ROM site but sometimes you strike gold.

Skulhedface Mar 10th, 2003 04:03 PM

Oh, and I don't think romnation.net works.

Even if I go through that "vote" bullshit, anytime I click on "Download Your Rom Now" it says that I am downloading "redirect.php".

Cap'n Crunch Mar 10th, 2003 06:56 PM

The largest collection of NES and MAME roms on the internet is www.theoldcomputer.com. I suggest you go to that website if you really want ROMS. There are not alot of pop-ups and no voting is required. They have T-shirts there too if you want to buy them. That is the best ROM site I know of.

Skulhedface Mar 10th, 2003 08:56 PM

Well, I think (I may be in the minority here) that it's not very hard to find an old NES or even MAME rom... the ones that are getting hard to find are Genesis and SNES roms (SNES roms meaning even the ones that are IDSA protected, like CherryRoms.com has all over)

I think we need a LOT more sites on Genesis and to a lesser extent, SNES.

Cap'n Crunch Mar 10th, 2003 09:26 PM

You need more nes roms! You can buy a genisis for 20 dollars!

Skulhedface Mar 12th, 2003 04:19 PM

and an NES for $5!

That's RomNation. Don't worry too much about it. But I find the site to be the best one listed so far. You don't have to vote or anything. Just download the roms and they'll work fine.

FS Mar 20th, 2003 06:02 AM

Yeah, I've been downloading a number of roms from romnation now and it worked fine.

Skullhedface, don't worry if you get prompted to download "redirect.php". When you start downloading, the filename changes to the zip file you're trying to get.

Skulhedface Mar 20th, 2003 12:02 PM

I think Jamesman mentioned that in one of his other posts, but thanks anyway.

A new problem has arisen though. I downloaded Marvel VS Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Capcom for MAME, but neither of them show up in my MAME menu, although I KNOW they're in the right directory.

timrpgland Mar 20th, 2003 02:06 PM

what mame version?

Skulhedface Mar 20th, 2003 06:50 PM

Not sure. All I know is RomNation.net had three MAME emulators and I DL'ed the one for Windows.

[edit[ Ironically, Metal Slug 1-3 all work fine :lol

timrpgland Mar 20th, 2003 07:53 PM

I usually find the emulator that works best with that specific rom. For example I will use Kawaks for Metal Slug 3 and for Metal Slug 4 I will use Nebula.

Not sure why MvSF and MvC won't work. You may need a seperate .dat file for those roms for them to show up in the list. I actually own those games so I haven't emulated em.

Skulhedface Mar 20th, 2003 11:26 PM

It can't be the DAT files, those are already included. I just wonder why it wouldn't show up. It's in the right directory, and I did refresh it...hmm.

Skulhedface Mar 23rd, 2003 10:01 PM

OK, the version of MAME I had was MAME32. When I downloaded Nebula everything worked fine.

Has anyone seen a ROM for MvsC2? Or does such a ROM exist? And for some reason, I CAN NOT get Metal Slug 3 to work, Tim. Everything else finally works but not this one.

JackChick Mar 30th, 2003 12:11 PM

http://acmlm.overclocked.org/

The site's more for messing around with the ROMs themself, but still...

Generator86 Mar 30th, 2003 01:27 PM

Hey, I've been looking for a site that has SNES emulators and ROMS(specifically Super Castlevania) for a couple of days now that is compatible with Windows XP, to no avail. Everything is either corrupted or they just plain don't work. Any suggestions?

By the way, theoldcomputer.com works great for most of my Nesticle ROMs.

Also, if there's any way, are there any Genesis emulators and ROMs for Windows XP? I'd greatly appreciate it.

JackChick Mar 30th, 2003 01:40 PM

Stupid request of the day:

I need a SNES emulator and super mario world ROM for Windows 98.

I desperately want to mess up that game, so I can make a game that's actually DIFFICULT.

Mobri Domble Apr 3rd, 2003 01:10 AM

PSX and Gameboy

Seems like a good place to exchange info, here. I don't have a site of my own, but I have a few to offer in case you don't already know of them:

http://isovortex.emuparadise.org/iso/

They have a small variety of PSX Isos. Unfortunately, C:SotN is down. But there are no votes, no links. Just clean downloads.

http://www.pureroms.com/index.php/em...eboy%20advance

This is to search for GBA roms, though you can find others there too. The database is down, but hopefully it will be fixed soon.

http://zcubed.hypermart.net/dload.html

Good if you are looking for all versions of Pokemon. Sapphire and Ruby are still in Japanese.

I have numerous PC warez sites also, though they are by no means difficult to find.

Would it be bold of me, now, to ask if there is a site possessing the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Iso? My search for that one rom is what has caused me to run across every other sort of place in existence.

And I agree on that voting crap. It's complete BS.

Mobri Domble Apr 3rd, 2003 01:15 AM

Oops...

Alrighty, you guys obviously don't know.

If I find some more, would you like me to continue posting them here?

ItalianStereotype Apr 3rd, 2003 02:35 AM

1. this thread doesnt see much action

2. about half the fucking internet population comes in here asking for ISOs. we dont know where to get them and we wish that we could murder your kids.

but anything else is fair game.

Mobri Domble Apr 3rd, 2003 10:57 AM

Well, there's a reason for that:

The link leading here is labelled "PSX Isos"

That's how half the internet population arrives here, and why half of them are talking about Castlevania; that's in the description too.

Do a Yahoo search and you'll probably see what I'm talking about.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Aaarg Apr 5th, 2003 09:59 AM

There was a post on the EdgeEmu forums with an insane amount of links, half of which were divided into categories. A lot of them didn't work, though, which sucks.

But I just checked and the forums are down because EdgeEmu's got a new layout and it suuuuucks.

And whoever was looking for the Kid Icarus GB ROM (In one of the posts from like February), I have it if you're still looking/still here/shut up.

I also have a burned copy of C:SotN. I don't have it right now, though, and my ISP limits uploads to around 13kb/s. But eh, I could get it back and possibly gain enough patience to send it to someone . . . Maybe.

I don't know.

"lol screw off newbis"

Generator86 Apr 22nd, 2003 09:27 PM

I just found another.

emureactor.com

Looks like right now the SNES and Genesis ROMs are down, but at least I finally found an SNES emulator that works on my computer. :)

Oh, yeah. They've got a pretty decent selection of NES and Master System games, and they download quickly too.

Best part about the site is you don't need to vote, like most of the others listed.

wolf man Apr 24th, 2003 06:53 PM

Shit! This isn't good! I'm getting a 403 forbidden when I go to the cult of Kefka. Anybody else been getting this? It's been happening for about a week now.

Zomboid Apr 29th, 2003 01:32 AM

There's a good number of helpful rom collectors at the edgeemu.com board so if you're really, really, looking for a certain one there's a good chance someone there can help.

I would like to recommend http://www.kaillera.com/ this program allows you to play mame games online, its a blast.

I read that someone was having problems with metal slug series, I have found that for all neo geo games the neoragex emulator is the way to go. I regularly use it for the metal slug series and it works flawlessly. It also has the advantages that the romsets are much smaller and load times are much better.

ROOKIE Aug 11th, 2003 11:07 PM

I'm amazed that people still seem to be having trouble finding roms these days. Hell i've even seen working psx isos online (emuchina or chinaemu used to have plenty, from "street fighter ex 2 plus" to "vagrant story") and compressed until they were up to 50 mb and not a byte more!
A good place to find out about websites that have hard to find roms is kaillera, a program included with some emulators which makes possible internet play. There's hundreds of people everyday in kaillera's many servers and most of them know some pretty good sites (after all these guys play arcade/psx/n64/genesis roms online). Go to www.kaillera.com to find out more.
Here's a site you won't be disappointed looking up by the way:

www.thenationnet.com

I've never seen a broken link in it.

ROOKIE Aug 12th, 2003 10:15 PM

Here's the top arcade roms & emulators website on the planet

i couldn't figure out irc, mirc, the netscape irc, or that shit trillian irc to save my life. i stick with Direct Connect... that and the good people who somehow know all the good sites to find roms at.

generally i use planetemu.net for most things...

www.oneminuteleft.com has a lot of SNES roms
www.pjroms.com has RPG roms but you need to sign up

This thread needs some attention, now. A lot of the old links don't work anymore. thenationnet.com is back up, but it's slow, and every rom I tried to download was incomplete (I only tried MAME for now). EdgeEmu is not requesting $30 donations for their hosting in order to download the majority of their games, and have a TON of popups.

Those were really the only two sites I would visit, because they were so consistent in quality. But that's gone to shit.

Number one place to go is still EmuReactor :D

Bittorent = roms!

If you're not afraid of bittorent I've found a site with roms from
Amstrad to Watara Supervision.
there are a couple thousand SNES roms, couple thousand N64 roms, couple thousand GBA games, couple thousand atari roms, couple hundred sega roms (could be thousands, but I'm lazy.)

the link is http://www.grh.se/cowering/

I am now your god.

If you are looking for rom look for sites dedicated to that particular game or series. www.classicgaming.com has many of those such as the Castlevania dungeon (http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/) or the the Guardian Legend Shrine (http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/guardianlegend/).

If you don't mind doing a little message board browsing (after all, if some complete fuckstains around here knew how to use a phpbb "search function", how hard can it be?) then you can find almost anything.

...though they didn't help me find Time Killers, heh heh...

Skulhedface Jun 16th, 2004 12:22 AM

Yea, I forgot to mention the post above I did was for MAME roms, but hey, I suppose it worked rather well... there haven't been too many posts here lately.

Though I come again with more good news. Emureactor's message board has a veritable motherlode of links which you can find here.

This one is VERY helpful because they've all been pre-tested and ranked, so it's very systematic and thorough. Happy hunting.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but in all honesty I can't be arsed to go through 4 pages of posts.

www.emuasylum.com

My favourite romsite, what with there being in excess of 75,000 roms/isos there. Admittedly you have to join to get the isos, but not for the thousands and thousands of Nintendo and Sega roms, aswell as a few others too.

(Sorry about sounding like an advertisement for the site, but it's just that damn good!)

Can you wait until someone gives you a reason to apoligize to do so?

Imadjinn Jul 17th, 2004 08:11 PM

Are you following me? I'd just rather apologise in advance as I am infact psychic and foresaw someone commenting on the fact that I sounded like an advert for www.emuasylum.com.

(I'm not really believe it or not.)

The best ROM site by far is http://www.coolrom.com/
