Al Gore: Rich & Precious For The Environment

You have to love these great crusaders and the charges which they demand. This speaks very well for itself:
Al Gore has come under fire for making personal gain from his mission to save the planet – after charging £3,300 a minute to deliver a poorly received speech.

The former American Vice-President was also accused of being "precious" at the London event, demanding his own VIP room and ejecting journalists, despite hopes the star-studded gathering would generate publicity for the fight against global warming.

Many of the audience at last month's Fortune Forum summit were restless as Mr Gore, who has won both a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar for his campaigning work this year, delivered the half-hour speech that netted him £100,000.
Daily Mail

There is such a great amount of irony in all of this -- the jet set crowd of environmentalists lining their pockets from their efforts (no doubt to buy their indulgences, I mean, off sets).

Embarrassing for the left wing -- just as bad as thrice married Rush Limbaugh or adulterous Rudy Giuliani speaking of family values.

Holy shit, people in positions of power are hypocrites.

Well, "rain on your wedding day" irony perhaps, but not real irony.

OH MY GOD, DO YOU EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH?!

mburbank Dec 11th, 2007 12:24 PM

You can't demand charges. That doesn't make any sense at all. Those are not big, difficult words. They are simple words with simple meanings and even so you can't use them. What the hell is it with pompous, self loving, ultra right wing goombahs that they can never ever do anything to the English language but sodomize it?!

Yes, okay, fine, I do know what you meant, but why is it not possible for you to get through a paragraph without making all the words cry?

How can someone who obviously thinks so much of their ideas have so little respect for expressing them? How can someone who so yearns to be taken seriously make so little effort?!

How many times do we have to establish that I do not write that well before you will get off that topic? It gets old with each passing thread.

And yet, you have the nerve to piss and moan about immigrants, despite the fact most of them have a better command of English than you do.

Dr. Boogie Dec 11th, 2007 11:34 PM

And let's not forget how much you write about your own personal philosophy. You write so much of that that it's hard to believe you aren't getting any better at writing.

Retarded citizens, born and bred in their homeland, are entitled to rights within it. I would be cruel to disenfranchise myself from my own nation. Don't you agree?

To just follow the status quo is disaster in itself. With no different opinions there is no change. With no change a culture stagnates.

Kulturkampf Dec 12th, 2007 08:12 AM

On the contrary, with too much change a culture can be drowned out and washed away.

AlliSabbah Dec 12th, 2007 08:48 AM

Without any change people would be doomed to mediocrity and boredom. Also we would still be burning witches and the like.

mburbank Dec 12th, 2007 09:44 AM

No. I totally do not accept that. It isn't 'bad writing', it's lazy and coupled with your grandiosity, makes you the very definition of a blowhard.

Your refusal to make a better effort at expressing your ideas shows a total lack of respect for those ideas. They're just random noise blowing across your brain pan, which accounts for how badly you express yourself, and the fact that you constantly contradict yourself. That's how a man who wants to tell you he's in the most noble profession of all encourages a dog to blow him. That's how a man absolutley bloated on his own self esteem posts a video of him getting beaten up.

No one is going to take your 'ideas' seriously until you treat the more respectfully. Your just gassing out your blowhole, which is exactly how it comes across. That's for drunken bull sessions with your skinhead pals. You want to be taken seriously? Do a serious job. Write like the village idiot and you'll get treated like one.

So you're saying because you write like a retard, you should get equal rights?

I don't know, I can't decide what you're saying in that second poorly-worded sentence.

Which is why Christianity never made it in Europe and you still worship trees like your ancestors did.

Right?

Kulturkampf Dec 13th, 2007 07:54 AM

What Christianity never made it in Europe and I worship trees? What? Ohh. Now I understand...

I think we are both pigeonholing each other to extremes.

Change is good. Sometimes, too much change is bad. I think we should find the happy median.

I just think it is more to the right tan you do. :)

and I am respecting myself more these days.

mburbank Dec 13th, 2007 10:26 AM

As of that post.

Simple sentences that adequately expressed what you meant. Bravo.
