Someone please explain a few things to me
1) Who are Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag? I mean, I know they're on a "reality" show, but who the fuck are they?
2) Why are they "celebrities?" 3) Why do they keep appearing in the "news," even though they're no longer on whatever insipid bullshit show they were on? I flatly refuse to watch any "reality" TV, ever, so beyond inadvertently stumbling across some "news" article, I will not even research this shit. Thank you for your time. |
They don't actually matter, it's just that most Americans don't care about everything that's going on in North Korea or Iran.
|
1) Idiots. That is all they are.
2) They are not. They just want to be REALLY BAD! 3) Because most of Americans are also idiots who would rather watch other morons try to be important instead of living in the real world. All in all its best just not to think about it. |
Heidi is such a horrible name. If I was called that I'd be very nonplussed.

Are you guys over in the UK spared this garbage?
|
Well I have no idea what this thread is about, so I guess so. Though it's not like our reality TV is any less vacuous.
|
From the few clips I have seen of reality TV in the UK, the people seam to know that they are no one of consequence and dont take themselves to seriously. Here in the US they all seam to think they are super stars because they acted like ignorant sluts for the half a season of whatever crap show they were on.

No way, Dims. They are totally the same as yours. For example: Jade Goody (May she Rest in Peace)

Yeah but their country is crap, hell their entire continent is rubbish, they dont count.

Oh, comma splice, your place in this forum never goes cold for long.

May I suggest you watch or read news that involves real news.
BBC news is a good start |
I personally like Anderson Cooper because he refuses to talk about this kind of drivel. Unless CNN forces him to, which is rare, and then he talks shit about it during the entire coverage.

The show gave them some fame, and Spencer managed to parley that into a continued source of fame and money by acting just like his character from the show (i.e., a dumb a-hole). A few media personalities have tried to get him to admit that it's just an act, but it really does seem to be his actual personality. That, or he is a more committed character actor than Sacha Baron Cohen. As for why they keep popping up in the news, celebrity news is much easier and cheaper to report on than hard news, and it draws a much bigger audience. |
