New Legend of Zelda Details

When a cinematic trailer of an upcoming - and less cartoony - Zelda game was unleashed upon us at this year's E3, many of us were pleased to see a game with a visual style we had originally hoped to see with The Wind Waker. However, newer details about the upcoming game have made us both disappointed and intrigued.

As it turns out, the new game will not be in the adventure genre as its predecessors. Instead, it will be a rhythm and action game, similar to Dance Dance Revolution or the upcoming Donkey Konga.

The game will play in a series of battles ranging in difficulty and theme. As the battle goes on, new and classic tunes from the Zelda series will play, and you will need to press buttons in time with the beats and the action on screen in order to carry out actions in battle. Miss too many cues, and Link will meet an unfortunate fate, while completing a battle successfully may unlock new levels or even new characters.

As surprising as all this may be, the idea does interest us. We can only hope that the final product will deliver an entertaining experience. We'll have more details on the game as they're available.

I don't think it's one you dance to. It's just a rhythm game that you use the controller on. But I may be wrong, since the details are few. :/

Now people, James is pulling your leg. And if their was any truth in it, the news would of spread across the face of the internet almost as fast as the first Olsen Twin Playboy spread.

The E3 Footage shows us that it is a modified version of the OoT/MM/Windwaker game engine, hit up with a turbo.

To directly alter the gameplay to a musical beat game would require to much effort for Nintendo to place into a game.
And any game they would make would be in direct competition with the Donkey Kong DDR style game they are making.

the trailer by mew looked fucking intense. at first i thought it was a remake of ocarina of time but there seemed to be a lot more enemies / locations etc. james has to be a fag because there is no possible way that a game with that trailer could require "simon says" type "action."

and two questions:
1. donkey konga? are they gonna fuck up donkey kong too?
2. i have pondered this for awhile: "Legend of Zelda." what the fuck did zelda do? it seems like anything she could be known for was getting captured by ganondorf numerous times and having link save her.

i found i guess some beef on james' statement (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/act...x.html?q=zelda under Gamespot complete Exclusives ; roundtable discussion).
towards the end of the video he mentions how the gameplay / control style has been roughly the same for the past zelda games, and how they were gonna focus on more puzzle solving or something. so maybe james ISNT a liar.

Donkey Konga is a rhythm game. It comes with bongos you hook up to the GC, and hit along to the beats on the screen (or clap). On top of which, the next Donkey Kong platformer game will apparently require you to use the bongos as well.

I've been meaning to play oracle of seasons and time actually, but I never get around to seeking the roms out. Are they any good?

They're pretty good. A good mix of Link's Awakening and Link to the Past. The password system is also pretty interesting. I should go back and play them again, because I never did finish them.

Does anyone remember the original Ocarina of Time commercial with the blacksmith?

Actually, we saw Zelda in MM, but only as one of Link's memories early in the game, if that counts...
