Great book. It's like a prophecy into what can come in future times. I wanted to see if anyone else read this and discuss it's meaning. Anyone think we're headed towards a Big Brother society?

This is an extremely political novel, and I wanted to interpret it, so I felt it was best expressed in politics.
btw, author is George Orwell.

I've never read the novel, but I do keep reading revues, and commentary about George Orwell. To answer your question I would say no, we're not heading towards the totalitarian society that Orwell envisioned. By the way, you should know there's two British film adaptations, !984 (1954)(TV), and 1984 (1956).

I see us heading more towards a Brave New World. Which I see as the same result as 1984 but the path was a polar opposite.
