Otherwise, it's easily dismissed with the rest of the unoriginal "you're a fag" type insults. For example, when I call you a retard. You may not have Down syndrome or cerebral palsy, but your level of mental development would be consistent with such an impairment. There is the seed of truth that makes the insult stick. But when faced with a herd, the normal find themselves at a impasse. The normal often backs away, and just watches, knowing that the retard shield will deflect most verbal attacks. The retards, being very simple creatures, believes the Normal is putting forth a invitation to join him, the retards fall on each other, each trying to gain respect of the normal, after a few warm up attacks of "You're Gay!" "You're a Fag!" and "You Suck" the retards then proceed into a well documented retard insult melee. (which often or not, just includes more Gay, Fag, and Suck insults.) The winner then emerges, grinning stupidly at the normal, believing their acceptance of normal-hood is at hand.

The normal then strikes with such a vicious verbal assault, that the already weakened retard is often struck to tears, and is chased off the board.
