It makes good sense to store character information like that. It costs them next to nothing to store an inactive account, but it provides a bigger incentive for a player to reactivate than if they would have to start over from scratch.

darkvare Apr 25th, 2006 12:32 AM

i may start playing this game so i was wondering what should i chosse i am between warrior and rogue wich do you think is best

EisigerBiskuit Apr 25th, 2006 01:03 AM

Paladin.

darkvare Apr 25th, 2006 01:05 AM

but i want to be undead they dont have paladins do they?

EisigerBiskuit Apr 25th, 2006 01:57 AM

I think they may have removed Undead from the Paladin patch, but I haven't tried Orc yet.

DamnthatDavid Apr 25th, 2006 02:33 AM

Undead Rogue.

Undead is awesome and all, but Orc/Tauren make better Wars.

EisigerBiskuit Apr 25th, 2006 03:18 AM

It's still handy to be an UD Warrior because if you are 40+ and have the Insignia Trinket, you have three reasons not to take shit from fearing buttholes.

Yeah, it's like your dealer saying "I'll just hold on to the rest of this crack, you know, for when you're ready" >:

ziggytrix Apr 25th, 2006 03:30 PM

Exactly. :)

AChimp Apr 25th, 2006 04:06 PM

Nemesis Leggings are mine! :D
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37836

They were accidentally given to someone else because the master looter clicked the wrong person's name. It's taken the GMs a couple weeks to fix the problem, but they are finally mine!

Carnivore Apr 26th, 2006 09:25 AM

Judgement set 5/8 at the moment. Still no dead Nefarian. Holes opening in our raid group :(

AHHA level 23! go me! BWHHAHAA wow is addicting, fucking wow.

CaptainBubba May 3rd, 2006 01:33 PM

Got my cenarion helm last night. 5/8 cenarion bitches.

We are having trouble with Majordomo Executus. We can get it to about 4 helpers and then for some reason everyone dies. We have good mana, everyone is usually up, but then on my screen I see everyone die. I'm pretty far away from the main group sicne I'm the leetest druid and I am with the MT group :posh

AChimp May 3rd, 2006 02:00 PM

It's important that everyone knows which mob you're supposed to be DPSing down, and Domo should be taken off to the side away from everyone.

If I remember correctly, you sheep all the healers, kill 3 warriors, kill the healers and then kill the last warrior. Once you get that order down, it's simple and you can claim your phat lewt.

We killed Firemaw with 27 people last night. :posh

Sethomas May 4th, 2006 04:16 AM

Oh man, this thread is like discovering that all your friends are addicted to heroin and have been keeping it a secret, but you realize that they hadn't really done much to keep it a secret. You just hide reality from yourself, ignore the signs, and then come to terms when the elephant shitting in your living room can't be pushed out of vision any longer.

I guess there was a reason I never came into the gaming forum.

executioneer May 4th, 2006 06:01 AM

i've never played this game and probably never will since MMORPGS bore me to shits

Definitely elicits a "what" response. I'm happy about it.

the_dudefather May 9th, 2006 04:52 PM

sort of purply night elf type things with tentacle faces?

cool!

they have hooved feet and everything! and tails! (like tauren i suppose). pretty cool choice of race[/list]

Hell no, Eredar are pure evil. That is a "Broken," a more powerful version of Draenei.. or something

CaptainBubba May 9th, 2006 06:36 PM

Nope.

whoreable May 9th, 2006 08:14 PM

whats up yalls i got this game, lvl 15 rouge undead lightninghoof server yalls

Misdemonar May 9th, 2006 09:30 PM

makes me mad that the alli get a badass demon race, and horde just gets a reskinned nightelf model.

Shifty May 9th, 2006 10:17 PM

what server should i make a horde on?!

DamnthatDavid May 10th, 2006 02:56 PM

IF you want to go with the server where you have people who might assist you with quests, go with Laughing Skull.

Most of us are on that one.

Names:

Vaosh: 40+ shammie
Makatiel: 60 Hunter

Carnivore May 10th, 2006 11:28 PM

Draenei it is.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burni...l/draenei.html

Emu May 10th, 2006 11:32 PM

They look like lame versions of the Night Elves.

Dr. V May 11th, 2006 02:04 AM

Whats thier connection ith the alliance?

BTW the whole attributing the different look of the old dranei to "fel mutation", CHEAP ASS!

the_dudefather May 11th, 2006 05:50 AM

i think they look pretty awesome, the males look a lot beefier than night elves (always annoyed me that they were too tall and thin so armor diddnt look as cool on them most of the time.

plus tentacle faces, tails and hooved feet are nice bonuses in my personal coolometer

AChimp May 11th, 2006 10:17 AM

Draenei are pretty awesome looking, IMO. I'm looking forward to camping the new zone and killing as many as I can find!

the_dudefather May 11th, 2006 10:54 AM

omg they r pallys too!!!

ill probobly start a blood elf mage and drarnei warrior/rouge (depending on class options) on day one

DamnthatDavid May 11th, 2006 04:21 PM

I'll Join ya Chimp! While everyone is busy starting new lower level charachters, there won't be many higher levels to oppose.
I should have my shaman at 60 then.

DeadKennedys May 11th, 2006 06:08 PM

Will their starting area be on Outland?

AChimp May 11th, 2006 07:26 PM

Probably not. The only way to get to Outland is through the Dark Portal and it's surrounded by level 60 elite demons. Not to mention the fact that Outland is full of level 70 stuff.

They'll give teh Draenei a small zone in Azeroth.

DamnthatDavid May 11th, 2006 08:33 PM

Some island that there "Intergalactic space-ship" crashed on or something.

THEY ALIENS!

Makes sense to me.

edit: From wowwiki: The Draenei start in the Azuremyst Isles, a grouping of islands off the northeastern coast of Kalimdor.

Their capital city is Exodar.

Guess that answers my question.

Dr. V May 12th, 2006 02:24 AM

HOW DID THEY GET HERE?! WHY DID THEY JOIN THE ALLIANCE?! These are pressing matters people. If they don't have a proper back story then I get antsy!

DamnthatDavid May 12th, 2006 03:52 AM

If you read the history, you will know.

1.)They join the alliance due to the hatred they hold for the Orcs.
2.)the "super being" that helped them run from the bloodlust crazed orc horde and the burning crusade is the being of light that powers the paladin powers.
3.) The Horde caused there intergalactic demionsional ship to crash.

AChimp May 12th, 2006 10:25 AM

The Draenei are also pissed off at the Blood Elves because the elves stole their flux capacitor.

Carnivore May 16th, 2006 03:20 PM

Recorded our first Nefarian kill last night. 'Twas a thing of beauty!

AChimp May 16th, 2006 05:13 PM

Grats! :)

What did he drop?

Carnivore May 17th, 2006 02:14 PM

Transcendance Robes, Judgement Breastplate, Neltharion's Tear, Archimtiros' Ring of Reckoning.

ziggytrix May 17th, 2006 03:42 PM

Do these epic raids have anything in the way of "door prizes" or are you pretty much trading hours of your time for one roll on the loot?

AChimp May 17th, 2006 03:51 PM

I don't know of any end game guild that rolls on loot. Most guilds run some kind of point system where you accumulate points for attendance and then you spend them on items that drop.

If you don't spend the points, you typically don't get boss drops. There's no "thanks for coming" rewards except the satisfaction of knowing someone in your guild got something which will make the next raid go better.

ziggytrix May 17th, 2006 08:58 PM

OMG, you mean that faggy system the "more dots" guy was referencing when he was saying -100 kdps or whatever is actually quite popular?

Fucking Christ, that's depressing.

Carnivore May 17th, 2006 11:44 PM

And what would you propose instead?

Emu May 17th, 2006 11:46 PM

This is a really old thread.

Immortal Goat May 17th, 2006 11:48 PM

Tier 3 sets are out!

And once again, Druids are fucked into the tiny healing hole >:

noob3 May 17th, 2006 11:49 PM

ive never played wow, but in EVERQUEST when a guild killed somthing, usually whoever deserved it got it. or whoever could use it, rolled for it.

ALOT of the time, a guild would wait so long to decide who got what, the monster's corpse would become lootable to everyone. many a time some random newbie would come by, check the corpse, taking EVERYTHING even if they couldnt use the untradable stuff

hilarious times

Carnivore May 17th, 2006 11:54 PM

Tier 3 paladin = priest in plate.

Misdemonar May 18th, 2006 12:21 AM

Haha, warrior tier 3 looks awesome.

Dr. V May 18th, 2006 01:19 AM

I think DKPs are retarted too. I think people who have nothing should at least get 1 or 2 items without having to earn points on 5 different raids.

DamnthatDavid May 18th, 2006 03:17 AM

I understand the logic of equiping the crap members first. (like my first Scholo run where I made out like a bandit with Mak in DA. Bow, gloves, breasplate motherfucker)

but on the other hand, I think equiping those who put time and effort into something is great also.

Edit:

HAHAHA! The Paladin 3rd Tier looks like shit. The 2nd Tier was all badass but now they look like the pussies they are!

Immortal Goat May 18th, 2006 03:30 AM

Still, the worst looking Tier 3 set in my opinion is the Warlock set. Fucking horrible.

the_dudefather May 18th, 2006 07:43 AM

some kind of neon aztec ninja or something

AChimp May 18th, 2006 10:31 AM

It's important to gear the people who show up frequently. If you give a really good item to someone who only logs in once a week, or decides to quit the game a few days later, you have essentially wasted that item. It could be many weeks before it drops again and any benefits the guild would have gained are lost.

My guild made the decision a few months ago to automatically loot all warrior set pieces and tanking gear to the main tanks for a fixed DKP amount. No bidding. No other warrior could get those items unless all the tanks had it already. All of the other warriors were really pissed off (some even quit the guild) but in the end everyone realized that it was the best decision because we had tanks that didn't die and everyone has acquired more loot than we could have before.

the_dudefather May 18th, 2006 11:02 AM

ahh the temptation to play lv60 again rises...

Archduke Tips May 18th, 2006 01:19 PM

I really wish I had the time to play WoW. Soon I start work again, and that will hopefully free up some time.

ziggytrix May 18th, 2006 09:57 PM

Actually Chimp, I play an MMO so I can have fun with old gamer friends that now live far, far away. :(

Not to obsessivley compete in timesink competitions with and taking orders from people who spend way more hours than is remotely healthy playing a fucking video game.

ziggytrix May 18th, 2006 10:50 PM

Though apparently I really enjoy the waiting on Authenticating game too. >:

CaptainBubba May 19th, 2006 12:49 AM

I only play on Fridays and Saturdays for about 3-4 hours and I have 5/8 cenarion. Its not really a big "timesink" to get DKP.

Though the bigger guilds that require attendance daily and raid MC, BWL, and AQ40 on a rotating schedule need to eat some shit from a dog dish and kiss their blow up dolls. Yunno, get outside or something.

Dr. V May 19th, 2006 03:39 AM

I don't know, all I want cool loot for is kicking ass in BG. I guess I could just get faction gear.

DamnthatDavid May 20th, 2006 02:00 PM

Day of Duels!

my 60 hunter went up against a epic shaman with Sulfres, the Mace of Rag or something. It was orange. Everything else he had was purple with 1-2 blue.

Dr. V May 22nd, 2006 12:27 AM

I thought it was gonan be the twist. I like that better,

Immortal Goat May 22nd, 2006 03:04 PM

I had originally heard that it was supposed to be the Twist for both genders, a la Pulp Fiction (males dance like Travolta, girls dance like Thurman).

I would have liked to see that, actually. And has anyone seen the video of the female dance? I heard there was one, but I can't find it.

the_dudefather May 22nd, 2006 06:35 PM

the draenai dance is pretty weird, but the blood elves one kicks its ass

anyway, my current WoW dance emote chart:

1-Undead - male
2-Troll - male
3-Orc -male

ummm.....most of the rest suck

Matt Harty May 23rd, 2006 04:00 AM

DamnthatDavid May 23rd, 2006 03:54 PM

Lords of the Dead? Crap on that. I was hoping for Lords of the Dance!

I was reading the shaman high level armor sets, and I discovered something. Blizzard wants high level shamans to be Healers.

Immortal Goat May 23rd, 2006 04:54 PM

No crap. Blizz wants practically EVERY high level magic user to be a healer.

AChimp May 23rd, 2006 05:25 PM

It's because shaman and druid DPS in end game raids is negligible, and healing is extremely necessary.

CaptainBubba May 23rd, 2006 05:33 PM

I like being a healer.

My internet provider turned off last night before golemagg and cenarion vest dropped and went for 47 : ( : (

What I hate most is that that actually upsets me even a little.

Immortal Goat May 23rd, 2006 06:27 PM

I understand the need for Druid healing in end-game instances. What bothers me is when I am treated like nothing more than a healbot when I DO have more to offer than just Healing Touch.

the_dudefather May 23rd, 2006 06:31 PM

yeah i respeced as a holy/prot pally for just taht reason
