NEW MINIMOCK: "PEE-WEE'S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!"

Been looking forward to doing a feature on this one for quite a while... it's probably one of the greatest Christmas specials ever to air on television. With a huge list o' guest stars, and Pee-wee Herman himself, you just can't go wrong.

Amusingly enough, I came across an old recorded copy of this special a couple months ago. Been sitting in my room ever since, but I have yet to watch it again.

I'm gonna buy it on DVD though, along with the complete collection of Pee Wee's Playhouse.

strange. i just saw this a couple weeks back with my girlfriend. found the old tape.

its had me on a newly-regained pee-wee fascination ever since.

oh and ps- my favorite parts:

Miss Yvonne in a dress and the talking floor saying "come stand over me"

The look on pee-wees face when the fat lady says she's jewish. he says "you are?" with astoundment.

the running gag where peewee uses the mousketeers as slaves making hs christmas cards

when the mexican guy who used to be a lifeguard explains pinatas and peewee shows his love for fucking shit up "you mean we get to break things to celebrate christmas?" or something of that nature.

I think cloning should be done on Paul Rubens, kill the original, and train the clone to be just Pee Wee Herman. :(

I bought this special on tape years back and I got both DVD sets of Pee-Wee's Playhouse last week. My family watches the special every christmas along with Scrooged and JEENGLE ALL THE WAY. ... Sinbad. :(

Any one who buys the Pee Wee's Playhouse sets are fucking suckers. They are going to release special edition versions next year.

Mockery Dec 6th, 2004 08:00 AM

Thanks guys, glad you all enjoyed the piece. :picklehat

Jixby, what's gonna be on the special edition DVDs anyway?

Jixby Phillips Dec 6th, 2004 05:04 PM

The one thing I know for sure is Audio Commentary, but various articles vaguely allude to deleted scenes and cut stuff and stuff like that. Mr. Reubens has been on the talk show circuit talking about it, warning fans that they might wanna wait for next year.

But as far as i know the Christmas Special isn't goign to be included on the special set or get any more of a special treatment than it already has.

Ah ok thanks for the info. Yeah I'll probably hold out for the final Pee-wee's playhouse DVD set. But the xmas special is cheap anyway and definitely worth purchasing. It's a classic episode as you can see in my big write-up of it.
