anybody into hip hop scene

hip hop mogul Damon Dash and Jay Z are sort of, kinda friends. I was amused to see Damon autographed and designed a teddy bear for Save the Children charity. I was on www.Ebay.com/1800Flowers where about a dozen celebrities have designed bears for the charity. Damon Dash-kinda funny to see him in that group.

hiphop scene aye? i think there is on of those in the UK but we call it "those townie fags hanging around outside the local shop", sometimes they try and rap and wear really dumb clothes in an attempt to look like black american gangstas.

Esuohlim Dec 22nd, 2004 05:37 PM

Its bad to be pro-scene here. People are bias here and will try to emulate the writers of i-mockery =/.

GADZOOKS Dec 22nd, 2004 11:50 PM

Wait, people write for I-Mockery?

executioneer Dec 23rd, 2004 09:22 PM

Lol. For one, you are being biased to fit the i-mockery subculture. For two, you do need to alter your behavior to fit in to some subcultures. It doesn't make you "retarded". Only missing a chromosome will. Scenesters are no smarter or less smart than anyone else they just see things differently.

I listen to hip-hop and rap in general but I mostly dispise the scene. It seems to me that every two bit hack with a mic believes that they can bust out killer beats and rhymes. Case in point for those who read SA: Johnny Crack.

Listen to Foreign Exchange, Kero One and The Streets. Not a lotta people know about them, but they should.

Foreign Exchange is the collaboration between some guy from New York and some guy from Denmark, I think. Denmark guy produces, New York provides the lyrics. There might be more members, now.

Kero One has the familiar intelligent 2 - 3 words that you heard from back in the day. Not much else to describe him.

The Streets is a bit more well known, and it's only one guy. Dunno why he used plurals. Anyway, it's Mike something-or-other, from England, all made by himself. He's currently my favorite, as his lyrics don't whine about other's business or complain about things bigger than him. His songs're completely self-related and situation-driven. I love it.

If you're interested, you can find a few stuffs by them on Music.Download, for free. If you've got Soulseek, I'm always online under the name Schimid, and I've gotten Streets' full album.

Big McLargehuge Feb 11th, 2005 12:15 AM

Big Papa Goat Feb 11th, 2005 04:38 AM

I lisetn to Immortal Technique, and I don't see why anyone would listen to any other hip hop.
But I'm a big jerk when it comes to music
