i think the beatles were closer to starting emo they dressed as bad and had the same shitty haircuts and when you think about it there songs were kinds gay at times i mean they were pretty much a boy band at that time whether you want to admit it or not think about it "i wanna hold your haaaaaaand " what kind of shit is that ? they dont even headbang or wear spikes , so some of them did acid are you going to compare them to the prodigy ? too ?

YES!

Royal Tenenbaum May 10th, 2005 01:58 PM

The Beatles did start heavy metal. All of the bands that started metal like Black Sabbath were influenced by the Beatles in a large way. The Beatles invented modern music, and songs like Helter Skelter were some of the heaviest shit to come out at that time.

Even if it wasn't serious, that doesn't mean it wasn't true.

No one band, composer, musician or songwriter can be credited for inventing "modern music".

Well, perhaps "invented" is the wrong word, but one cannot deny that they were one of the most influential groups.

Bobo Adobo May 12th, 2005 01:50 PM

Of Course they were very influential if not the most influential rock band ever. But there are alot great bands and musicians today who don't have a strong Beatles influence.
