StarCraft: Ghost

So, is this game coming out soon or what? I saw display boxes for it in several game stores, on the Gamecube. :eek

the_dudefather Apr 12th, 2006 09:01 PM

i thought it was cancelled wasnt it?

quote from wikipedia

"Blizzard Entertainment has taken Starcraft: Ghost off of the "Current Projects" section. Now only World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade remain. This suggests that Blizzard has either cancelled the game or is moving it up to next gen consoles. On March 27, 2006 Blizzard announced that the game was indefinitely postponed."

make what you will of wikipedia's accuracy tho

Well, what I saw was a display box in two different game stores. It had this picture:

It was cancelled.

ArrowX Apr 13th, 2006 12:45 AM

But was anyone really surprised at this point?

Why, though? It was going to suck for the following reasons:

a) console only
b) slow development = really dated product
c) the game was literally redesigned dozens of times

ArrowX Apr 13th, 2006 03:42 PM

What does console only have to do with it sucking?

Altho I do agree that it was going to suck hardcore.

Chojin Apr 13th, 2006 04:00 PM

It was most likely ditched because at best it would be a bad splinter cell game.

That said, I have no idea why they cancelled it, factoring in how gay Blizzard's fan base is for anything they do. And it starred a girl. Come on.

ArrowX Apr 13th, 2006 05:23 PM

I wonder how many death threats have flooded their inbox since they released the news of its "indefinate suspension"

this happens to games alot nowdays. Anyone remember lionheads B.C.

That's how I looked at it.

Despite early buzz and standing anticipation, StarCraft: Ghost suffered numerous in its ambitious development schedule, and eventually lost its original developer due to commitments. The PS2 and Xbox versions continued on with a new developer, but in March of 2006, the current-gen games were put on indefinite postponement as chief overseer Blizzard moved its focus towards next-gen systems. The possibility is open for StarCraft: Ghost to be resurrected on other platforms, but the current-gen versions are essentially on hold and likely cancelled unless otherwise decided upon.
A glimmer of hope. Watch, they wont put it on Revolution.

darkvare Apr 14th, 2006 01:44 PM

they are going to make it "next gen" and make everyone think is how spy games (sorry i dont know what genre are they) should be done and bla bla bla bla

Chimp's too cheap to buy a console. That and he can't handle a controller.

Guitar Woman Apr 14th, 2006 01:59 PM

PC gaming is dead

Royal Tenenbaum Apr 14th, 2006 02:05 PM

Don't tell Chimp. But, yeah, it is.

Mockery Apr 14th, 2006 02:19 PM

I never had any real interest in this game and would rather them just can the project and finally make a real sequel to Starcraft.

If they do make a "World of Starcraft" game (yeah I know that was an April Fools joke), I would totally dig that, despite not being interested in WOW.

the_dudefather Apr 14th, 2006 09:18 PM

yeah now that blizzard has conquered the fantasy MMO they should kick the futuristic one too

ArrowX Apr 15th, 2006 02:38 PM

am I the only one that thinks blizzard should make a completely new non-SC/WC game? I'm seriously sick of a people preching to me about a company that, yes they do produce great games, but only have produced about 4 worth even playing (being WC 2-3, Lost Vikings, and Starcraft.) yet still they have this talent for being able to milk the shit out of sales. you'd think that in the time they had they could have at least given out more than one expansion for most of their games.

I'm also wondering if they could even work in a second Star Craft game, didn't they end it well enough in BW?

Emu Apr 15th, 2006 02:48 PM

No? If I recall, Kerrigan is still alive and kicking.

ArrowX Apr 15th, 2006 02:50 PM

Well Tassadar isn't >:

I mostly game on PC and only rarely use my PS2. PC gaming is not dead!

Oblivion rocks on PC.
