help me identify a game

ok, so I remember that as a little kid I once played this beat 'em up style arcade game that had something to do with dinosaurs.

I especially remember a boss fight where this beefy badguy whacks a dinosaurus with two swords before he notices you and attacks you. I also remember that one of the playable characters was black, with yellow cap, green jacket and jeans, and another one was a brown haired muscle man.

Also, the game had many pick up-able items and weapons. One special item was a radio transmitter which allowed you to contact your friends, who'll give you a ride in a car for few secs, while running over all the bad guys during the ride.

Does this ring any bells?

I love Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
I remember playing it in an arcade oh so long ago.
Good thing I have the emu on my X-Box.

Holy shit. I've never seen this game before. This looks like review fodder for sure. What systems was it on? I gotta get some roms of this bad boy.

the_dudefather Jun 8th, 2006 05:10 PM

arcade (and dreamcast it seems)

think there might of been a cartoon series of it at some stage too

thebiggameover Jun 8th, 2006 05:12 PM

CPS1 (Arcade (MAME, Kawaks, etc) and Sega CD.

It's an excellent game, you'll love its excessive violence and moments (especially the unmistakable celebrity references in the ending). It's also rather chaotic with three players playing at once.

Rog I tell ya, you have to try this one out. One of the best arcade beat 'em ups ever done and deserves it's place among Golden Axes and The Punisher.

Mockery Jun 8th, 2006 05:36 PM

Alrighty, I'm sold. Which version is the best and where can I get the rom? I haven't downloaded any new ones in quite a while so I don't know what sites are still good for that shit. Planetemu?

MarioRPG Jun 8th, 2006 05:43 PM

Pretty awesome name.

I am unsure of which is the best, but I'll have to check which version is on my X-Box, as it runs fairly smooth.

The CPS1 version is obviously the best one since it's released on that first (besides, tell me a superior genesis port of a capcom game)

yes, the french are right

Yeah arcade is always great, I just gotta reinstall mame on my other computer and then try to remember how to take screenshots with it. Haven't played a Mame rom in a while. Plus I'm not sure if you can turn on and off layers in Mame like you can with a Genesis ROM. You know, like if you want to turn off all the foreground sprites so you can take a screenshot of the background graphics or vice versa. Does anyone know?

Girl Drink Drunk Jun 8th, 2006 08:29 PM

It's most likely because I've never lived in walking distance of an arcade, and that the ones that I've played in the past have had low sound, but I'm not a big fan of arcade games. I do like some of them, however, when I usually play them in a collection or anothology game, It feels like the console version is better. Anyways, I am not sure if it was the game or cartoon that came first, but I have COMPLETELY forgotten about that cartoon for at least 7 years.

Use Kawaks to play it instead? It has a 'shot factory' which can help you disable pieces of art more easily.

Mockery Jun 8th, 2006 09:27 PM

Does Kawaks support the same roms that Mame does basically? If so, sounds like I might have to try it then.

James Jun 8th, 2006 10:26 PM

But does Kawaks have online play? >:

No, Kawaks is only specialized for NeoGeo, CPS1 and CPS2 games.
