Marduk was badass early on when their material was based on something more than one-dimensional "speed" bullshit. Dark Endless and Those of The Unlight were classics. Now we have this Nightwing trash where they play blastbeats all the time and do nothing remotely creative on their instruments.

Immortal can make very fast BM and actually put new ideas into it. Marduk died.

The songs feel less individual than their last release - perhaps it's because the haunted made me do it was so good, but the songs sound like they are sacrificing memorability for heaviness. Still, it has some great tracks: demon eyes, shithead and godpuppet to name a few.

The haunted are playing here next week too. doubt I can go though :(

Darkest Hour isnt gonna be there but I guess Bleeding Through will replace them,which is both good and bad cause BT are excellent but they have been around here like 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months or so... and I would also love to see Darkest Hour.

Out of all the great metal bands in Sweden, I must say that Dark Tranquility, (old) In Flames, and Opeth are my all time favorites. They just have something about them that the other bands seem to be missing.

Marduk is better with large numbers of blastbeats. They can now hang with my favorite black metal band, Dark Funeral. Although, I guess they are maybe black/grind now and don't know it?

Anyway, At The Gate, The Haunted, and all the members of Gothenburg style thrash are overrated.

I havent been too impressed with anything from at the gates other than slaughter of the soul (although it is one of my favorites right now)

Yea so I havent been listening to metal for long but I still really like The Haunted and the whole Gothenburg thing, maybe overdone, but its still one of my favoriate forms of metal. :poser
