X2

Seeing it tonight at midnight, hopefully it isn't a huge letdown.

Mockery May 1st, 2003 02:28 PM

I don't think it will be at all, probably will be one of the best movies to come out this year actually. I'm gonna go see the first matinee of it tomorrow probably...

Grazzt May 1st, 2003 02:37 PM

If you go to it without the thought that it will suck because it won't be totally faithful to 40 years of comics, then it will probably be fun.

Zomboid May 1st, 2003 02:52 PM

I'm going friday if my town gets it and one of my friends isn't busy friday and willing to drive so we can get a group to go. I've been looking forward to it's been announced :(

Protoclown May 1st, 2003 05:25 PM

I'm going tomorrow night. I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, but I definitely think it's going to be better than the first one.

UnDeath May 1st, 2003 05:34 PM

Gambit's STILL not in there. :(
Ah well, it seems good enough, so I guess Ill see it sone of these days.

Protoclown May 1st, 2003 05:49 PM

Gambit would probably pretty well suck in a movie anyway. Unless they got the guy from "Brotherhood of the Wolf" to play him.

nah, they could probably find some no name actor to play him. Ah well, Im sorta biased there, he is my favorite one from the x-men.

PS- post number 187. yay.

Cap'n Crunch May 1st, 2003 06:43 PM

Aye, I might go see it on Tuesday. I thought the first one was entertaining, it wasn't a waste of money or my time. I hope the same goes for X2. If it is at least comes to those standards, it is okay in my book.

Protoclown May 1st, 2003 06:56 PM

His name is Samuel Le Bihan. Look him up on the Internet Movie Database. Based on his performance in that, I think he could do it.

But there was someone I thought of a while back who would make an absolute PERFECT Gambit and now I can't recall who. When I think of it I'll post it here.

I'd prefer to see them go with unknowns for a lot of these parts and cast them WELL, rather than just go on name recognition. Hugh Jackman wasn't that well known before X-Men, and look at how awesomely he portrayed Wolverine.

I wish they would get an unknown to play the Punisher. :(

James May 1st, 2003 10:42 PM

I will be playing Gambit in the next film. :(

I don't pay much attention to reviews (unless I want to btch about how fucking wrong they are), but I've only see one negative review for the movie so far, and about 20 positive. So it should most definitely be good.

The only downside is that with so many characters, a handful of them end up underdeveloped and unused. But if you can look past that, this should be enjoyable.

Since I'm a cheap bastard, and I hate people, I'm going some time next week for a matinee on a weekday.

Zbu Manowar May 1st, 2003 10:56 PM

I was optimistic until I saw that Deathstrike is now an X-Men, having miraculously risen from the mass Reaver grave and now a bit younger and such.

Still, I'll see it. But I still can't get why they are really messing with the lineup with some sick pick n'choose game.

Protoclown May 2nd, 2003 12:54 AM

What are you talking about? Lady Deathstrike is NOT an X-Man, her and Wolvie are supposed to have some huge fight in the film. They didn't suddenly make her a good guy, unless I'm grossly mistaken.

And how exactly are they messing with the line-up? The X-Men have probably had at least a hundred different line-ups in the forty years they've been around. How could they possibly select a lineup for the movies without some sort of pick and choose game?

Zbu Manowar May 2nd, 2003 01:17 AM

I'm just going from the trailer I've seen. It they included Deathstrike with the others, so I assumed that they were pretending she was an X-Man all along. My bad.

And the X-Men have had changes, but Iceman isn't that much younger than Cyclops and Jean and such. It's just the little things that bug me, I guess. At least they could have kept that straight. Really digging Nightcrawler, through, love those bellbottoms. Might go and buy a figure. ;)

UnDeath May 2nd, 2003 01:57 AM

yeah, I can see Samuel Le Bihan play Gambit. They could even bring him into the plot through Rouge, if they want to be accurate with the comics. Also, I think his super power would look awesome on film. Cmon. Explosions. In an action movie. >:

Zbu Manowar May 2nd, 2003 02:05 AM

Yeah, then we can get a subplot about how Iceman is going to kick Gambit's ass then see him get completely destroyed by an energized eight of clubs.

Jebus May 2nd, 2003 03:32 AM

Just givin' you an update. X2 wipes the floor with the first one. This movie is fucking incredible. No matter how high your expectations are you WILL NOT be dissapointed. I saw this movie with 5 friends and not a single one of them could name one thing they didn't like about this movie. I was speechless after seeing it. It's that good.

Zbu Manowar May 2nd, 2003 03:43 AM

Think I'll catch a matinee next Wednesday then. Hopefully by then House of 1000 Corpses will still be playing.....but I doubt I'm that lucky. ;)

pjalne May 2nd, 2003 10:27 AM

*SMALLEST SPOILER YOU'LL EVER SEE*

Saw it yesterday, loved it. I usually frown at big elaborate CGI-ed slo-mo action sequences that are obviously only there to make people go 'whoa!', but I must say I loved the opening with Nightcrawler. That's some fucking sweet motion control work.

:love Rogue :love

Generator86 May 2nd, 2003 01:02 PM

I saw the midnight show. Fucking LOVED IT! I don't claim to know a damn thing about the comic books, so I'm not one of those people who are gonna bitch about how so-and-so should be older by now, or why is this person in there when THAT person would fit much nicer. Not knocking any of you, you're obviously holding this movie closer to your hearts than I am, but from somebody who just really liked the first one, this one is way more enjoyable.

Oh, yeah. Nightcrawler kicks ass.

Protoclown May 2nd, 2003 01:04 PM

Did Nightcrawler's teleports make the proper *bamf* sound??

And were they stinky?? :eek

pjalne May 2nd, 2003 01:06 PM

The bamfs were very satisfactory. Nobody mentioned any stinks, but the gas sure looked like it could burn a couple of nostrils.

Protoclown May 2nd, 2003 01:10 PM

:rave

:love Nightcrawler :love

I can't wait to see it! I'm going at 10pm EST tonight.

pjalne May 2nd, 2003 01:19 PM

Don't want to hype it up too much but yeah, Nightcrawler was pretty cool. He was the comic relief a lot of the time, which feels pretty weird at first, but it's not really a problem. Plus, he's fucking deep blue. I'd kill to be deep blue :(
