Dear FatSatan, and other LucasArts Fans:
Many, many years ago, when I was still playing Lotus Trilogy on my A1200, one of my friends had a PC and in between bouts of "Doom" with his new fangled "Sound Card" he'd show me all his wonderful graphic adventure treats: Your Sam and Max, your Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, The Dig (yes, I saw your review just now FS) and all the rest. Now I have a PC all of my own.
I must play them. Now. How and where do I get hold of them and the necessary hardware/downgrading software/emulators? |
I would suggest buying this set because it comes with the first three Monkey Island games. I bought it a while ago and it rocks. For some reason, it looks like it's no longer in production anymore. Bastards. You could try eBay though...
|
Kazaa has tons of old games like that. I had sam and max, monkey island 1 and 2, day of the tentacle, indiana jones and the newfangled machine (..right?) and one or two others from downloading.
|
Definitely buy Sam & Max. Cause if you get the CD version, it has voice-overs for the entire game, for every character :o
|
I thought the Dig was no longer sold anywhere, but now I've found that Amazon still sells it.
My full count of LucasArts adventures from the early 90s: -Maniac Mansion -Day of the Tentacle -Zak McKracken vs. the Alien Mindbenders -Monkey Island 1 (16 colors version) -Monkey Island 2 -Loom (16 colors version) -Sam & Max: Hit the Road -Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark -Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis -Full Throttle -The Dig Most of the old ones I think you can find on Kazaa, but some of them might be stripped of voices and music, and personally I wouldn't be content with that. Games with voices are the Dig, Full Throttle, Sam & Max and the 256 color Loom CD version. |
Bugger Kazaa. Just search for "abandonware" on Google and you'll eventually find a site that has it.
Don't forget the Simon the Sorcerer games, either. :) |
Thankfully there were many games which were released on the Amiga in the 90's - and they always looked better because you could use a TV instead of a crappy lo-res monitor.
I have Simon the Sorcerer with the "talkie" soundtrack - voiced by Chris Barrie of Red Dwarf fame, no less. I played Monkey 1 and 2 on the miggy, and also Curse and Escape from (which was really, really bad by the way) - and many others like Loom and Fate of Atlantis were available. |
Quote:
And fuck you, Curse was good. |
I think he's just saying Escape was bad :/
WHICH IT WAS >:>:>: fucking gays :( -willie |
Oh yeah. My bad. I don't think Escape was all that catastrophic, but not anywhere near the three first ones either.
|
I've played almost every adventure game there is!
Chamber of the Sci Fi Mutant Priestessess? Sure thing! Captain Blood? You bet! Sex Olympics? ...don't ask. |
I would like to inquire about these aforementioned 'Sex Olympics'. :posh
Seriously. What is Sex Olympics? |
if somone could send me Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle over AIM or somesuch program, thatd be great, i remember playing those games at my uncles house when i was like 10, now i miss them :(
