Geek-o-rama

I am going to meet Mr. Leonard Nimoy and David Prowse (aka Darth Vader) this weekend at Toronto Nerd-opallooza 2003.

How have things been on the ol' homestead?

mburbank Aug 21st, 2003 11:38 AM

Tell Mr. Nimoy that his best work was the "Bildo Baggins" song and Prowse that you really enjoyed him in "Raisin in the Sun"

glowbelly Aug 21st, 2003 11:42 AM

did i ever tell you that i met harlan ellison and that i am going to send him a wedding invitation when i get married?

mburbank Aug 21st, 2003 11:51 AM

Did you tell him that "City on the Edge of forever" was his best work?

Dole Aug 21st, 2003 12:08 PM

...and tell Dave Prowse his best work was as the Green Cross Code man.

Those Leonard Nimoy records (ALL SEVEN ALBUMS) are fucking monumental.

Anonymous Aug 21st, 2003 01:25 PM

Pff, James Earl Jones is Darth Vader, dummy.

Protoclown Aug 21st, 2003 01:36 PM

I too have met David Prowse. :jedi

Have fun, John. :)

mburbank Aug 21st, 2003 03:53 PM

Did you know that Mr. Nimoy was for a time Americas best selling poet?

FS Aug 21st, 2003 03:56 PM

Did you know he was also Mr. Spock on the original Star Trek? Huh?

David Prowse, pssh. That's like meeting Buzz Aldrin.

Meeting david Prowse is like meeting Pete Best.

Dole Aug 22nd, 2003 12:49 PM

Just imagine if Pete Best had been Darth Vader and Dave prowse had drummed for the beatles. JUST IMAGINE!

mburbank Aug 22nd, 2003 12:56 PM

I'm doing it now. It's strangely arrousing.

Protoclown Aug 22nd, 2003 01:15 PM

Yeah, Prowse was kind of a boring guy.

mburbank Aug 22nd, 2003 01:17 PM

Was he bitter? 'Cause that can be kind of fun.

Protoclown Aug 22nd, 2003 01:21 PM

Well, my friend asked him why it wasn't his face behind Darth Vader's helmet, and Prowse started going off about how much of an asshole Lucas was and that he WAS Darth Vader and that he wasn't the face of Anakin because Lucas didn't want him to have any power and he had this really intense scary look in his eyes like he was going to snap our necks...so yeah, I'd say he was bitter.

mburbank Aug 22nd, 2003 09:28 PM

Ahhhh. Excellent.

Trekkies II recently filmed a segment on Star Trek punk bands here in Sacramento. Apparently Sacramento has about 5 Star Trek themed punk bands, it's some sort of cosmic nerd force.

agroskaterik Aug 23rd, 2003 01:53 AM

Do they do the trekkie hand thing instead of the "rock on" hand thing?

FS Aug 23rd, 2003 06:11 AM

The sad thing is, yesterday I dreamt I met Leonard Nimoy and made the Vulcan salute, and he was very impressed that I could do it (spreading the fingers like that). All because of this thread.

Protoclown Aug 23rd, 2003 10:38 AM

Pshaw. Everybody can do the Vulcan hand thing. :rolleyes

FS Aug 23rd, 2003 11:09 AM

Zefram Cochrane can't. :rolleyes

Hobo Renee Aug 23rd, 2003 06:41 PM

Star Trek bands are a bunch of drunks, so I don't think that they can to the Vulcan hand salute.

Ironic you should mention that. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Best about a month ago :) Nice guy. Awesome accent.

Okay....THAT is sort of a disturbing image you went and just conjured up there in my mind...*shudders*[/quote]
