The No More Heroes anticipation thread

I don't think I've been this excited about an upcoming videogame in my entire life.

For those who aren't savvy to the latest updates, NMH casts you as Travis Touchdown, a Johnny Knoxville lookalike who wears pink anime T-Shirts, loves watching Moe, and practices professional wrestling moves in his spare time. His weapon of choice a Lightsaber katana he has to make a very suggestive motion with to recharge it's power. With this, he strives to become the number one assassin in the world by killing off all those who rank higher than him, a list of personas that include a white-fro'd samurai and a luchadore-attire wearing guy with a crotch cannon.

It's based off the movie El Topo and is being directed by Suda51. It might just be the most immature game I've seen since Duke Nukem 3D, and I am loving every second of it.

It also has the greatest fucking save system ever.

So, he's an otaku. Fantastic.

Guitar Woman Sep 16th, 2007 11:02 PM

I think it's funny. :<

GADZOOKS Sep 16th, 2007 11:42 PM

Mario Galaxy can't come soon enough if this is the Wii's next best thing. Yeesh!

It reminds me of Viewtiful Joe, only now with a sword but just as terrible.

Guitar Woman Sep 16th, 2007 11:59 PM

I don't like like Viewtiful Joe either, but you are batshit nuts for not wanting more Suda51.

Unless you are the kind of dude who emphasizes on satisfying gameplay more than any other element, in which case you probably hated Killer7.

Cfr5 Sep 17th, 2007 12:05 AM

Suda51? Killer7? Cfr5? What's with all the numbers after names?

So you're admitting that you think this game will be crappy, and that you're only interested because the main character pantomimes masturbation with his sword and saves the game by taking a dump.

Fathom Zero Sep 17th, 2007 12:50 AM

I think it'll end up like my copy of Killer7 where I let my friend borrow it and not care if he ever gives it back.

No, I'm implying Gadzooks isn't excited because he didn't get past the broken and crappy gameplay of Killer7 to experience the mind-bending plotline. This game looks to be more of the same, but with fixed play mechanics, which is what basically everyone who liked Killer7 has been begging for, and why I am excited about it!

Or he could be against it because it is too ridiculously immature for him, which is also probable.

Fathom Zero Sep 17th, 2007 05:47 PM

The gameplay is intentional and part of the experience, you huge faggot.

Guitar Woman Sep 17th, 2007 06:10 PM

Have you ever been attacked at an intersection by a group of Heaven Smiles? It's a lot of fun!

Dr. Boogie Sep 17th, 2007 11:46 PM

It sounds like, as a game, Killer 7 sucked. Likewise, if this game has crappy gameplay, it will also suck. Here's hoping it's not just another case of style over substance, I guess.

Fathom Zero Sep 18th, 2007 12:41 AM

Killer 7 was a throwback to rail-shooter days of long ago, but with an aesthetic all its own.

That's why GW didn't like it.

Guitar Woman Sep 18th, 2007 12:46 AM

If it was a SUPER DUPER ACTION OMG rail shooter in the vein of Star Fox or Sin and Punishment, I would have loved it. I didn't think the gameplay was bad to the point of unplayability, and the FPS element felt really good, but it had a lot of problems I did not like at all.

Also, the effects the camera used when switching scenes during gameplay were really annoying.

Fathom Zero Sep 18th, 2007 12:52 AM

What GW didn't realize was that the two games he gave weren't the only rail-shooters in existence.

Guitar Woman Sep 18th, 2007 12:54 AM

I do realize this, I was just citing my two favorite examples of the genre.

BRAAAAAAAAAAAD!

Fathom Zero Sep 18th, 2007 01:01 AM

For instance, Time Crisis and House of the Dead are rail-shooters.

I wonder if Killer 7 is compatible with the Guncon. Hmmmm.

Guitar Woman Sep 18th, 2007 01:04 AM

Oh, you were talking about Lightgun games.

I remember generally sucking at the genre and not enjoying wasting a dollar a game in crappy modern arcades, although I posess some very happy childhood memories of Virtua Cop on the Sega Saturn.

Happy, jerk?

Fathom Zero Sep 18th, 2007 01:07 AM

No. Not at all. You missed my point entirely.

darkvare Sep 18th, 2007 10:33 AM

the main char looks lame, besides is just GTAwith anime and stupid sword figths

MLE Sep 19th, 2007 12:47 AM

GUYS I BEAT TIME CRISIS 2 IN ARCADES

FuriKuri Sep 19th, 2007 12:52 AM

I personally loved Killer7, so this is one of the Wii games I'm absolutely looking forward to.

Guitar Woman Sep 21st, 2007 03:05 AM

So the Tokyo Game Show just put out new media for this and a playable demo, and after reviewing it I've decided that you're all a bunch of faggots.

Except the people here that were excited, you're still cool!

To be fair, what Gadzooks said was accurate because the finishing moves do remind me a lot of Viewtiful Joe. Although the combos were one of the few things I enjoyed about it, so I'm not sure what to think of this!

Chojin Sep 21st, 2007 01:20 PM

I'll admit that I am looking forward to it!

However, I really do hope that they let you actually swing the sword by moving the remote - the gameplay video just has the guy finishing combos with it in a little gimmicky microgame.

noob3 Sep 21st, 2007 02:31 PM

WII? LITTLE GIMMICKY MICROGAME?
