I think we should also use this time to start getting EXTRA GIDDY about the translation of Earthbound 2 (More commonly known as Mother 3) on the GBA, which is dangerously close to completion.

If you're planning on playing this one, don't expect a lighthearted funtime happy adventure. I can't quite pinpoint what freaks me out about EB Zero, but it has a mega creepy vibe to it and just seems waaaaay darker than the SNES game. Also, due to crappy programming all the enemies are way overpowered and you have to grind until you cry. I heard there's a patch to fix the difficulty bugs, but I'm too lazy to be pressed to go find it. Play at your own risk!

I salute your hilarious joke, Supafly, because it is hilarious, in that I am considered something of an outcast on this site because I used to be a retard and also pretended to be a woman, and seemingly CRAVE APPROVAL from everyone! This is not why I lovingly and ever so tenderly put this thread into being, however, nor is it the reason I have configured my signature and avatar to be EARTHBOUND related.

No, it is because a several weeks ago, I was listening to the song "Where Eagles have Been" by retro rock and roll group "Wolfmother," and for whatever reason it made my thoughts stray to Moonside and I decided to play EARTHBOUND again. Also because I wanted to be up to speed by the time EARTHBOUND 2 rolled around. I am very excited for that game, and have changed my forum persona's visible aspects to reflect that!

best game ever to smoke weed & waste time playing (actually, out of the like 3 rpgs I've played through they were all good to get high & play :( ff3, ff7 & earthbound :lol somone should reccomend me more rpgs. i play pokemon but does that count?)

noob, you need to play Chrono Trigger and both Paper Marios sometime in the near future. I'd think Super Mario RPG would be a good one, too, but I tried to play it a few weeks ago and I just couldn't get into it.


Also: Stay away from any Tales games that aren't Phantasia if you value your sanity.

If you can find translated ROMs of Secret of Mana 2/Seiken Densetsu 3 and the Dragon Quest series those are OK too!

Paper Mario was a big "Meh" for me.

Mario RPG is second only to Earthbound and A Link to the Past in SNES games, IMO

Although I do think the game is horrible, I ultimately hate the people who play it and try to justify it's combination of lame graphics, horribly simple dungeon design, terrible writing, clumsy cutscenes, wooden characters, grating music, and baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad acting as OK to have in the game because it also has an action combat system that is, admittedly, fun to play. BUT IT IS STILL NOT ENOUGH TO JUSTFY ALL THE PREVIOUS CRAP, OK, THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE THE MOST FUCKING FUN I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE FOR ME TO FORGIVE SOMETHING THIS TERRIBLY MADE. AND IT IS NOT.

Had they given an option to play the game with Japanese voice acting and somehow upload my own soundtrack, MABYE I would have given the game a chance, but they didn't, so no fucking cigar.

I also hate it because the internet's constant praisal of the game tricked me into paying 20 dollars for something I couldn't stand. It's like a RickRoll, except more expensive! That was 20 dollars I could have spent on something NICE! But now I'll never be able to! Fuck you, Tales of Symphonia!

This is EXACTLY what I say about Kingdom Hearts except that the acting is admittedly very good.

I love Earthbound. Most original RPG when it comes to theme. Somehow I've played this and the Metroidvanias multiple times but I can't get through a Final Fantasy game more than once.
