JOHN STEWART, COMEDY HERO!!
Words cannot express my admiration for Stewart.
Ever a voice for quality TV comedy, he's now put his own money on the spot. He's going to pay the writers on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report OUT OF HIS OWN DAMN POCKET for the next two weeks of the strike. This is what it's about, this is what all the entertainers who complain about how there's no quality work out there should be doing. You make it, you invest your wealth in quality product. If you went out on strike, do you think your boss would pay your wages? John Stewart is the man, man. |
The rest of Comedy Central is probably shitting bricks at the moment.
|
Jon Stewart is all levels of awesome. I remember his speech on the show after September 11...beautiful stuff.
|
Parker and Stone write their own shit. The Report, the Daily Show, and South Park are what makes (made) Comedy Central...and re-runs of Mad TV. I actually think Comedy Central will be able to handle this a lot better than the major networks. Syndication is the key, I reckon.
John Stewart is the man. I just wish he weren't so sympathetic toward the hippies. |
did i just read re-runs of mad tv
|
Prolly... I thought MAD TV got its start on Fox.
I briefly saw the news tonight about this writer's strike. I really don't watch much TV but, I found this intriguing. The studios are prepared. They will show re-runs. Prediction is, it will hit talk shows first. Oh, no Jay Leno might might have to go back to his roots. Second, are the serials. Yer sucked into the story and BAM!!! Re-runs. It's figured this could go on for about a month, maybe two before it gets bad. Local news said reality shows would replace anything entertaining. Luckily, i don't watch much TV. Generally, If I hear about something, I'll buy the DVD and watch it at my leisure. I digress. there must be a couple things unaffected by this strike? This also affects movies too, correct? |
Yeah, it does.
If somebody doesn't get their head out of their ass quickly and find a solution to this clusterfuck, I'm going to break people. |
Reality TV is screwed too because who will write their scripts?
|
Or even game shows. My parents seem to watch "Deal Or No Deal" avidly. Ya think Howie does his own material? Or what about"The Price is Right with Drew Carey now?
|
During the last writers strike, they brought in scabs.
That's how "The Facts of Life" got started. |
So are there going to be new Daily Show episodes next week, or what?
|
There should be.
Also, I was driving through Burbank (the town, not the man, though I've driven through him in the past if you know what I mean) and there were tons of Writer's Guild people out there protesting in front of all the big studios. They had every single entrance to Warner Bros. covered and NBC. Gotta give 'em credit, they organized this whole ordeal really well so that nobody could ignore 'em. |

"The Price is Right with Drew Carey now"
That would be funny if that was what the show was actually called. |
Since I usually watch Bio, History, movie channels and Nick@Nite I doubt this will effect me. SUCKS FOR YOU GUYS HO HO!
|
I hope dancing with the stars isn't affected!
|
Ok, from what I understand, this will definitely affect TV and movies, but not horribly at first as they could get away with reruns for maybe a month. Aren't they able to use stuff written that's been turned in but not shot yet?
Also, does this affect shows/movies by people who write their own material? (Stone/Parker, Kevin Smith, Jackson Publick/Doc Hammer)? |
Depends on if they are members of the guild OF CALAMITOUS INTENT!
|
If you do a little reading on Jackson Publick's livejournal You'll see they finished all the writing for the season.
|
Then they should start animating, jeeze. I miss Rusty.
|
I don't know of many improvised cartoons.
|
ever watched the Meth Minute 39?
