Fantastic game commercials!
Over the history of videogames, there have been countless commercials of the mega super awesome variety that have stuck with us in our hearts long after it was pulled from TV, and even past the point where we became tired of playing the game it was hawking.
Some of my favorites are the following! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvljN9ycqLg I bought Super Smash Brothers almost the moment I saw this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru9zzFEdGWk This one was so epic to my little 7 year old mind that I was prepared to sell my soul for a copy of FF7 and a PS1 to play it on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZSkUTWZyeA I always thought Paper Mario had a really charming ad campaign, best characterized by the "free demo" cutout pages in magazines. And and and a more recent one that I love a whole lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5d0agRpuSo Your turn! |
I bet 10 bucks that somebody will post the pole position commercial - again >:.
Haven't really seen any game comercials on tv myself, for they are quite rare here. I do remember catching few SNES and Megadrive ads back in the early 90s though. |
HEY.
YOU LOOK LIKE A REAL JERK. |

StarFox 64! :eek The rumble pak alone nearly made me shit myself. |
I remember watching yoshi's island commercials where the fat guy explodes when I was in middle school. Somebody find it.

Here's THE Sega Megadrive add I remember from my childhood. According to the guy this was back in 1992, but noting that I was only 4 back then , it must've been around 1994-1995 (Or then I've seen in on a VHS) The nintendo commercial I recall contains scenes of Mario in his raccoon form doing random stuff and a clip of Bart playing nintendo :/ |
Anyone remember those old commercials when the Genesis first came out with the two guys dressed up as a Sega and a Nintendo controller? I remember one of them was like "MY D-PAD HAS ALL DIRECTIONS" and the other guy, in the most forlorn voice ever, was all "Well I just have the standard up-down-left-right D-Pad :("
Keep in mind that I was like 4 years old but it's the earliest video game commercial I remember. |

Isn't SEGA infamous for bashing Nintendo during the whole 16-bit console war? I remember seeing this one commercial where sometime ago where they claimed that Genesis has some weird blast technology that SNES lacks :/

This has the blast processing and Genesis does with Nintendon't commercials Also, the "LOL GREAT GRAPHICS HUH CHECK OUT THE PS3" comment was especially delicious |
GENESIS DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T
|
"realistic 16-bit graphics" :lol

that sega bashing nintendo shtick reminded me of this video which i got back in 97 with my nintendo power subscription. the mario torture scenes are some of the best things i've seen.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NBF3X3ZaS2Q they also made a promo for diddy kong racing. not as good imo but here it is. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BV8z5UQWmkA |
Here's another of those VHS's (Nintendo sports):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=3K2cA_KHdkw And another (Majora's Mask, Banjo Tooie): http://youtube.com/watch?v=40HKpmYLV38 and one more (Banjo Kazooie): http://youtube.com/watch?v=3v837shutOo And half of one (Supposed to be Jet Force Gemini and Donkey Kong 64, but I could only find part 2 for some godforsaken reason): http://youtube.com/watch?v=MFSSoFZncZQ None are as good as the Starfox one, though. I was a subscriber to Nintendo Power during the heyday of these videos, and I still own most of them, which I guess is kind of like a dork badge of honor. :\ |
I got a making-of VHS of Donkey Kong Country with my subscription one time :O

I had completely forgotten about this one until this thread came along:
