Food you miss/crave/wish was in your goddamn town

BREAKFAST TACOS (and not that McDonald's "burrito" pale imitation crap)

Pho soup

Tortilla soup that is STOCK based, not CREAM based

Osso Bucco

Fathom Zero Dec 18th, 2007 12:02 AM

I crave Skyline, Krispy Kreme, and White Castle.

Sethomas Dec 18th, 2007 01:56 AM

Chicago "stuffed" pizza, Licor de Crema Catalana. No, seriously, I wish that the latter were capable of being purchased in the Western Hemisphere without paying $35 shipping on a $14 bottle of AWESOME FUCKING DELICIOUS.

Dr. Boogie Dec 18th, 2007 01:15 PM

There was this Italian restaurant in my hometown that made these great sub sandwiches that they called "gondolas". I wish they had those out here.

Also, Chicago-style pizza. Just about every pizza place in CA makes New York-style pizza. It's ok, but I like my pizza to be a little thicker sometimes.

Fathom Zero Dec 18th, 2007 09:31 PM

I make my pizzas in a pot becuase the pans I have aren't tall enough for it. I made one that was almost like a pizza cake. It was delicious and it slid whole out of the pot and was able to stand on its own, five and some aught inches tall.

That sounds delicious.

As for jme, ima have to go with white castle, and i wouldn't say no to0 a nearby cracker barrel either

Sethomas Dec 19th, 2007 01:05 AM

See, that post is funny because it's followed by a signature that is ostensibly ironic about being unintelligible.

There's a White Castle a few miles from here, but I rarely go to that part of town so I never enjoy it.

Fathom Zero Dec 19th, 2007 01:07 AM

I was going to ask you if that part of town was filled with minorities and that's what made you misirable about it. But I think, people of low income is a better term.

Sethomas Dec 19th, 2007 01:27 AM

No, it's a commercial park area and nobody actually lives there except for the townie kids that never leave the Steak 'n Shake across the street from White Castle. I guess I should go there as that is where the local ALDI is located. But, truth be told, I haven't bought groceries in at least six weeks because I've been too lazy to cook. Hence, if I eat enough fast food, I eventually hate the experience of eating and I save money in the end.

MLE Dec 19th, 2007 06:47 PM

I wish there were Sonics in Maryland.

Rongi Dec 20th, 2007 12:14 PM

I wish we had Big City Burrito on LI. Their breakfast burritos are so thick and delicious I want ONE RIGHT NOW >:

Now that I'm a vegatarian I cant really think of anything else I miss having from other places :\

Seven Force Dec 21st, 2007 04:29 AM

Edwardos deep dish pizza, and the occasional maxwell street polish dog, of course they're not here in florida >:

Alive Dec 21st, 2007 12:49 PM

I would like one of those chick-fil-a's and a carls jr. maybe jack in the box again since we lost those a long time ago and hardees (if they still exist elsewhere) that also left. but im not really into fast food much these days since i realised that mcdonalds double cheese burgers are made by the devil himself and we pretty much have everything everybody else has in there town so it gets old after a while. but yeah a chick-fil-a please.

ZAKO the GREAT Dec 25th, 2007 01:14 AM

i miss those time when i ate half dozen slyders in one shot.

executioneer Dec 27th, 2007 03:27 AM

doopa Jan 2nd, 2008 08:02 PM

Dunkin Donuts, Moe's, any good Italian

Mockery Jan 2nd, 2008 08:21 PM

Peanut Butter Boppers.

They were these snacks back in the 80's that I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED. They also made vanilla ones that ruled as well. I died a little the day they stopped making 'em. :(

Guitar Woman Jan 2nd, 2008 08:26 PM

In first grade I had these little Japanese rice cakes and they were FANTASTIC, but since then I've never been able to find them again :<

There might be an Uwajimaya around that sells them, but I never have the time to go check :(

Dr. V Jan 2nd, 2008 09:32 PM

i remember going to america as a kid and having a wendy's, it seemed like the most exotic thing at the time. i mean, square burgers - thats some hubris right there. guessing its probably a really shitty place for you lot.

Emu Jan 2nd, 2008 11:27 PM

Wendy's is like any fast food restaurant in that it ranges from genuinely enjoyable to putrid shithole.

Dr. Boogie Jan 2nd, 2008 11:43 PM

We had a good one by my old job. Then I tried one in my home town. Pure shit.
