Pentegarn Mar 7th, 2011 07:37 AM

Just went and saw Adjustment Bureau. It wasn't horrible.

Tadao Mar 7th, 2011 12:18 PM

It's a chick flick, right?

Fathom Zero Mar 7th, 2011 12:59 PM

Saw the new Darkman movie, Unknown. It was alright. I like mysteries like that sometimes.

Mad Melvin Mar 7th, 2011 04:29 PM

True Grit

It was awesome. The first half was excellent and the second was pretty good too. Almost every character was an interesting one and the dialog was solid. Matt Damon was the weakest link here, but he did alright too.

Tadao Mar 7th, 2011 05:02 PM

I've watched the first 30 mins of True Grit (original), looks great so far, I just don't have the time to really watch it yet.

Well Matt Damon punches a lot of dudes wearing hats in this movie, I did take my GF with me though to see it and she seemed to enjoy it, so maybe

dextire Mar 8th, 2011 10:08 PM

I finally saw the new Piranha movie. Every bit as hilariously over-the-top as I hoped. :)
Also, boobs. Lots and lots of boobs.

I heard that it was a love story with action in it.

That's pretty accurate

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 11th, 2011 02:50 PM

My girlfriend said the same thing that it was a love story.

Also, rivers edge is an awesome movie.

Tadao Mar 11th, 2011 04:09 PM

It's like a reverse Fight Club. Girls thought they were gonna see a sexy Brad Pitt action flick and we thought we were gonna see a sexy Matt Damon action flick.

Kitsa Mar 13th, 2011 06:36 AM

Jackass 3D. I laughed more than I should probably admit.

darkvare Mar 13th, 2011 11:28 AM

i watchedrango is pretty good and every character is greatly desinged

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 15th, 2011 06:56 PM

I really want to see Rango.

WhiteRat Mar 15th, 2011 07:35 PM

Watched Daybreakers last night. I was pleasantly surprised.

Fathom Zero Mar 17th, 2011 10:23 PM

I keep having to remember Ethan Hawke isn't terrible. My mind always wants to put him with guys like Matt Damon and the like.

EDIT:

Started Robocop: Prime Directives. I've always wanted to watch them before but never got around to it. The first one Dark Justice has horrible SFX and a villain name

BONE MACHINE who looks like a fat Shao Khan with with dual chain guns

finally watched true grit really good movie the coen brothers easily squezze the best acting out of jeff bridges

MarioRPG Mar 19th, 2011 12:33 PM

Gave District 9 another watch. Still very cool and sad.

Pentegarn Mar 19th, 2011 10:17 PM

Rented Hereafter. I forgot that it was pulled from the shelves in Japan until I watched it and realized why.

Tsumani scene aside I found the pacing of the movie to be flawed and clumsy

Shadowdancer21b Mar 19th, 2011 11:06 PM

2008 remake of House with Michael Madsen. It was produced by Fred Dekker, but this is one of those Lion's Gate films. It's a remake that has nothing to do with the original. I still enjoyed it overall. 3/5.

dextire Mar 20th, 2011 01:52 AM

Actually it's a not a remake of the original 1986 House movie, it's based off the 2007 book by Frank Peretti. As you said, the only thing in common is the title.
And I agree that it's... not terrible. :)

Esuohlim Mar 22nd, 2011 12:41 AM

I finally got to see Blade Runner. I liked it better when it was called Battlestar Galactica, the replicants were called cylons, and Edward James Olmos was in it for more than 10 full minutes. :(

I mean it was a cool movie and all, but all these TV series that I've been binging on for two straight years now have really made pacing of the occasional movie I watch seem ridiculously fast. Harrison Ford loves a replicant after they barely spend a total of 25 minutes together? Please

Tadao Mar 22nd, 2011 09:28 PM

I liked it. 2 really really really bad cheesy parts and then the rest was normal cheese.

Tadao Mar 23rd, 2011 02:47 PM

Pretty original as far as what the aliens are doing. I would compare it to District 9. Not the story, but how it has more to do with story than graphics.

Tadao Mar 23rd, 2011 04:08 PM

Skyline sucks in every way.

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 24th, 2011 12:56 PM

I've never seen Blade Runner. I watched Minority report which someone told me was the sequel to it though. Minority report was decent.

executioneer Mar 24th, 2011 02:33 PM

it's not a sequel but they are both based on philip dick stories so i guess they could both be in the same universe?

Tadao Mar 24th, 2011 02:59 PM

Were there replicants in Minority Report? I don't remember any.

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 24th, 2011 04:24 PM

I don't remember. They had ladies that could tell the future or something though. They might have been triplets..... does that count?

executioneer Mar 24th, 2011 04:30 PM

if it's anything related to blade runner/do androids dream of electric sheep, it's a prequel because the earth isn't ruined yet

Tadao Mar 24th, 2011 05:33 PM

I can kinda see that, but then again the Blade Runner people would have access to physic powers, that would mean that the replicant test would be unnecessary.

I'm going with those 2 stories have nothing to do with each other when compared in movie format. I've never read the books.

executioneer Mar 24th, 2011 08:35 PM

it could be they got rid of using precognitives to fight crime after the events of minority report proved it too unreliable, idk

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 25th, 2011 11:28 AM

I'd say that both of them are at least on the same shelf.

All Hail Duke Mar 25th, 2011 03:37 PM

black rain and patty hearst

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 28th, 2011 11:27 AM

Suckerpunch in IMAX.....real bad. It was visually impressive but what garbage. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

After the movie people were walking out saying how philosophical event it was in film making and storytelling.

Then in the parking lot of the theater some fool had to do a 3 point turn to get out of a regular parking space. I can only imagine he was subjected to the same garbage and caused a lapse in driving skill for him.

kahljorn Mar 28th, 2011 03:03 PM

i watched that monsters movie and when i saw the cover i thought it was a girl holding a chainsaw so i thought it would be action packed and then it ended up just being whale sex

their budget was probably too low to have a good monster fight or some shit cause the monster was always hiding behind some bushes or some shit until the end and then it was seriously like clay statue orca sex

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 28th, 2011 03:28 PM

I can't figure out what the deal with Tommy Wiseau is. He's either a Borat/Andy Kauffman wannabe or really stupid.

Tadao Apr 3rd, 2011 08:20 PM

Really, you can't figure out which one of those he is?

Kitsa Apr 4th, 2011 10:49 AM

I really want to see Arthur in theaters when it comes out. I have like this nonsexual Russell Brand thing.

I'll probably be disappointed.

Dimnos Apr 4th, 2011 10:54 AM

:(

Kitsa Apr 4th, 2011 10:57 AM

I guess I could see Russell Brand in Hop, too, BUT IT WOULDN'T BE THE SAME.

Colonel Flagg Apr 4th, 2011 01:47 PM

How so?

Monsters, Inc. rerun with my 8-year old. Epic.

I'm sad that they did this. I've been on the fence about him and now he just fell onto the side of the fence that I don't like to go to.

Kitsa Apr 4th, 2011 03:25 PM

I'm anxious to see him in something different. As in, outside the Aldous Snow "it's a good thing I'm famous because if I wasn't this hairdo blahblah mental illness" thing.

I just watched the original Arthur again this morning. I was never incredibly keen on 80s Liza Minelli, but I love the movie. I even love Arthur's Theme and I don't care who knows.

I'll probably end up seeing both, but my toddler might start spazzing out during Hop and cut things off early :(

Tadao Apr 4th, 2011 05:40 PM

Oh shit, I've been trying to remember what the hooker looked like. I totally forgot it was Liza. Lol. As much as I loved the original, I don't know if I could actually watch it the same way as when it came out. I do think that Dudly was the perfect in that role and no one is really ever gonna be able to come close. So why even try. Here's another idea, let's remake Animal House and have John Goodman play Belushi's part.
That would be awesome.

Equally disturbing would be to do an "Animal House - the Reunion" looking at the original cast at their 20th reunion or something. That way, Jim Belushi could conceivably play Bluto.

Hey, it could happen.

Is it known yet if the movie will use the original theme music? Or will it be some hack doing a cover?

Kitsa Apr 4th, 2011 07:22 PM

I don't know, but if it's some hip-hop shit, it'll all be over :(

I tried to watch Stripes and Risky Business again the other day and couldn't get through them. Better to just let them live on in my memory.

Also, Tom Cruise annoys the hell out of me more now than he did the first time around.

Tadao Apr 4th, 2011 09:00 PM

I used to listen to my dads Christopher Cross album. :lol

10,000 Volt Ghost Apr 5th, 2011 10:13 AM

Hot Tub Time Machine. Good times.

Kitsa Apr 5th, 2011 05:03 PM

I liked Hot Tub Time Machine too.

I saw Hop in the theater today. Liked the Russell Brand part, liked the Hugh Laurie part, hated the idea that the Easter Bunny is basically Santa based in Easter Island instead of the North Pole. I mean, they even had easter chicks hauling an egg-shaped sleigh.

10,000 Volt Ghost Apr 5th, 2011 06:14 PM

Hahahaha, I want an egg shaped sleigh. The easter chick sounded like he has a rough german accent too.

Kitsa Apr 5th, 2011 07:59 PM

It was supposed to be Spanish, I think. His name was Carlos. The easter chick, I mean.

I dunno. I loves me some Russell Brand (in aforementioned nonsexual way), but the more I think about what I saw in "Hop", the less I like it. He was okay, but there were pretty massive plotholes and numerous stuff that was mentioned and never paid off. But damned if they didn't nail EVERY. SINGLE. RELEVANT. PRODUCT. PLACEMENT.

Think Willy Wonka meets Santa Claus: The Movie meets a 2 hour long commercial with some bloated guest stars thrown in and you have Hop.

I started watching it again now that I have netflix....and I don't have to spend $30 on a VHS tape that is only 30 mins long for something that you could only see a preview of on another vhs that you bought that was $30 and also only 30 mins long.

Shadowdancer21b Apr 13th, 2011 10:47 AM

I watched the fan-made Megaman movie. It was okay. Ivy Hong from Captain S has a small role. 2.5 out of 5.
